Please do not forget that at that time the club was a "hobby" now it has to be run on a proper business basis .Put simply -income in dictates amount available to spend.
It is a total guess on my part ,however , it would not surprise me if the current playing budget is 25% of what it was when Steve Cordery was in charge.Understandable but totally wrong in my view to compare the results under one manager with those of another manager when the funding available to the club has changed so dramatically.
Should only compare like with like.
