First visit of the season and a decent game and a good night as well
Arrived just before kick off in drizzle but a friendly hello from the young lady at the entrance to the car park was welcome.Same cheery greeting at the turnstiles and so buoyed by this I decided to invest in a cheeseburger which was very tasty and served with a smile as well as onions :-)
The game was pretty good for pre season with a bit of bite to it with Wealdstone taking an early lead with a well directed header from a Staines defender
Staines battled back well though and got their reward with a lovely goal in the second half by Jack Hutchinson
The penalty a minute from time was the icing on the cake and it certainly looked a penalty to me despite loud protests from Wealdstone who frankly didn't look all that good last night and may struggle a bit this season
Some really positive signs from Staines and I'm looking forward to more midweek visits as the season progresses
Finally, nice to see a little 12 page programme filled with info being produced when a lot of clubs don't bother

Thought last nights display improved as the game went on. First half an hour Staines struggled quite a bit but started to improve towards half time and were much better second half. Most players put in a reasonably good display. Felix had a particularly good game I thought, as did Hutchinson and Bennett. Cox looked as if he was struggling a bit - don't know if he's fully fit or not - and he did come off with 20 minutes left.

Still, early days. Woking will be a stiff test if they send anything like a first team squad.
