Whats Going On ?

Thought it was time I spouted some rubbish in here , seeing as its been a while.

... So Forster has completed 50 games in charge of Staines ,

PLAYED (52)

WON (18) HOME (7) AWAY (11)
DRAWN (10) HOME (4) AWAY (6)
LOST (24) HOME (14) AWAY (10)
...................................

# A quick glance would tell you that our home form is rubbish, this to me is a mystery, we have the best pitch you could wish to play on, and although the support is low the fans that do turn up hardly get on the players back . So the players surely feel no great weight of expectation playing at home .

So where is it going wrong .. I'm no tactical genius, as you all know :) .. However I've been watching football long enough to know when somethings wrong at the football club. Just as Gayle last season Forster has a easy ride from the fans during home games, most fans wouldn't tolerate the kind of results they put up with at home games, and would vent their feelings towards the manager at the final whistle.

For me being '' bookies'' favourite pre season meant nothing , don't get me wrong I wanted to progress out the Ryman, but being a realist I knew it wouldn't be a cake walk. and now at the end of the year I'm being proved right.

Over the last couple of weeks it seems the wheels have begun to fall off.
Micheal Kalu & Ahmed Abdulla being put out on loan only to return to the squad for the Hampton game
Darren Purse leaving the club
Micheal Malcom being brought in with Forster singing his praises only to make 3 appearances then being released .

And the most mind boggling decision the release of Ashley Lodge.
Lodgey was the supporters player of the year 2 seasons ago , he was a clubman the kind of player that would run through a brick wall for the team .. Mr 110% .. Why would you toss a player like aside in the current situation ?
NOT A WORD FROM THE CLUB .. no official statement on Ashley Lodge or Darren Purse .

In my opinion if the club is lacking ambition from the top then we will lose Forster and Abercrombie.

So rather than looking upwards we are very much looking downwards again just like last season , and In truth this isn't a league full of quality football teams, we are being beaten by average teams.

I stand by the manager & players fully and my vocal support for this great club will not dwindle .

But all we ask is the top of the tree need to support the manager and players and show some ambition.

And don't forget

'' ITS ALL SWINGS AND ROUNDABOUTS''

It's all about money.

It don't matter if it's the Premier League or the Ryman League - the club who spends the most usually wins.

If budgets are cut or reduced then expensive players leave. Some cheaper ones go too.

Personally I really dislike playing one up front, because if, as has happenned, your one front man hits a lean patch, then you're stuffed, especially if there is no replacement for him.

Tonight's and Saturday's games are critical. 6 points and there is some reason for going forward with a bit of optimism. 0 points and I think we'll see a few sparks fly and some folk leaving. Which folk though ?

I think the problem is when you start to talk about budgets unless you know what everyone else has to spend how do you know if you are competitive or not? The Chairman spoke at last seasons end of season awards night and talked about "bouncing back" so you would have to assume that he has given the manager a budget they are both comfortable gives them an opportunity to get in and around the play-offs mix come the end of this season. There doesn't appear to be a Maidstone or Margate this season throwing lots of money around. I guess by virtue of their average gates Dulwich would be expected to be near to the top but it looks a big ask from where Staines are now to get themselves anywhere close. I can't see Farnborough winning tonight so it really should be 3 points for the Swans and trying to build on that for the second half of the season. If Farnborough do win then I think Nicky Forster might not be around much longer.

I may be wrong, but as was maybe the case at the start of last season in that everyone being brainwashed into thinking we were better than we actually are? The 100% pre season record most probably screwed us as we went in too over confident instead of having more of an underdog mentality. Then there was the distraction of the FA cup, minds were elsewhere and the run leading to a fixture pile up. By this time we were so far behind despite the games in hand which would have put us top if all won, but how many teams actually win all they're games in hand? We panicked at the prospect of having to win all the games causing minds to not focus correctly. A couple of defeats and the confidence went.

The frustrating thing is that on paper we are actually one of the strongest teams in the league in terms of individuals. They must now get that confidence back and then learn to play for each other and the results will then come. I feel we will eventually click but will it now be too late? An amazing run of results is now required if we are to salvage the season.
