White Elephants??

Can anyone tell me why no attempt was made to use the machines ,supposedly meant to clear water of the pitch today.
If this was not the ideal opportunity to give them a go, i don't know when will be.
Having waited till late to inspect the pitch i assumed we must have a good chance of getting the game on. Not so ,much to the obvious anger of our manager it was called off in no time.
O.K i guess i will be told the machines would not have saved the game, but having paid my bit towards one i would like to have seen them given a chance.

Apparently the match referee did not want a local referee to do an earlier pitch inspection, as he wanted to make the decision himself, which meant that by the time he arrived VCD had already made the journey.
Common sense obviously did'nt prevail as if it had an earlier decision would have been made.
Apparently there was a lot of underlying water which made most of the pitch quite marshy. This could have meant that the rollers which are more designed for clearing puddles of water from areas might have had little effect. This is probably why they never got brought out.
Frustrating for those who made the effort to go to the game but unfortunately out of our hands.

Lots of postponements today, not surprisingly. Saw that Leatherhead was called off quite early - it would be no surprise if the game there on Wednesday is also off. This will add to fixture backlog as there will no doubt be more postponements over the next couple of months.

I asked the question [for Social Media feeds] at around 9.30am and it was definitely the ref that wanted to wait until he arrived.

'NERD ALERT' ... Following recent problems from the wet stuff I check water levels around the area and this is the latest for Leatherhead!

Not sure whether it affects the ground!
