Unless you are a Brentford fan ( and a diehard to want to watch the B team at that), I don’t see how this is a good thing.

If anything it’s ‘rubbing it in our faces’ and would only conjure up painful and sad memories.

As a side note, I found it frankly embarrassing that Spelthorne council sent out sickly comms about how much they welcome ‘premier league’ Brentford’ to the borough, yet stood back and watched the borough’s arguably, more successful team be decimated into oblivion without even a whimper from the council.

It would appear that the section 106 is still intact for the foreseeable future however it is meaningless what with the financial clout that Brentford and The Thames club hold. I heard some crazy figures thrown around for the rent the Thames club are reportedly charging Brentford to play games there which would completely blow Staines out of the water compared to the peppercorn rent we were used to paying before. If we could even afford it, the Bees would want exclusive use of the facilities and the pitch may not even hold up with the amount of games played. AFC Wimbledon gave Kingstonian a million pounds to vacate Kingsmeadow, I was wondering if a similar goodwill gesture was offered to Staines by the Bees?

We’ll get absolutely nothing from Brentford whatsoever. They owe us nothing. I don’t know what our relationship was like but the fact they played us once in a friendly (2008 if memory serves) shows how much they regarded us as a near lower league neighbour (happy to be stood corrected on this).
