I think, in fairness, the overall standard of womens football increased dramatically in the 4 years from 2015 to 2019.

In 2015, multiple teams were betting absolutely obliterated. And even the better teams were still quite poor.

In 2019, although USA still seem to be ahead of everyone else, the gap is much smaller, and, the overall quality of the rest of the teams is much better.

So yes, PN did worse with a better team, but I also think his better players were competing against much better players.

I actually really like both managers. Sampson showed that he is tactically astute and Neville's rotation theory was an excellent World Cup tactic, IMO.
