Did it work if you just tried to play it on your laptop (i.e. not hooked up to the TV?). If it works on your laptop, but doesn't work once you hook it up to the TV, it could be one of a few things: a graphics card issue, an HDMI cable issue, a resolution/frames per second issue.

For the first two, are you able to watch any other HD video? (Try playing a YouTube video in 1080p.)

If no, check your graphics card driver (if you google how to check if your graphics card drivers are up to date, easier than me explaining it here).

If that doesn't work (or your drivers don't need updating) then you will need to try another HDMI cable.

If that doesn't work, it could be because your TV is too high resolution. Do you have a 4K TV? Or 1080p? If its 4K, sometimes (often), depending on what HDMI cable you have (and some other factors) running your laptop through your TV in 4K resolution only allows for 29/30 frames per second. It probably shouldn't stop the picture from loading at all, and usually would make the image jolty and not smooth. However, if you have a 4K TV, I recommend changing the resolution down to 1920x1080 and 60FPS. (If you right click on your desktop and select "Intel Graphics Settings" you should be able to work it out from the window that pops up.

If none of those work, then I have no idea.
