Rashford is a good example. He didn't post a picture of a hungry kid on his timeline and call it good. He made a campaign, raised awareness, and gave his time and money. He took meaningful action.

Elsewhere in this thread someone said "this isn't a problem for us to fix, this is for the rich to fix" (or something similar).

What if Boro supporters said "Phil, we're not coming through the gates, we're not buying shirts, and we're boycotting all sponsors until you call out the actions of [insert name of sponsor with shitty human rights]."

Do you think 'the rich' would have a change of heart? Maybe. You even said businesses and leaders make changes based on social media. Now, I do think this reinforces Sev's point about 'gimmicks', they're doing it because it's popular, not because it's right. However, small people can force big changes.

It's a ridiculous idea that only the rich or powerful can change things. That's wholly untrue. In fact, this very forum was the spark for bringing fans together for 2 up from the Conference. OK, different sized fish being fried between a football league and ending human trafficking and slavery, but groups can make a difference. Sadly, most of us won't even try if it means a sacrifice of convenience or status. As long as we don't have to think about the people who touched our electronics before we did, it's easy to dismiss them.
