Sounds like we set up very defensive, was always likely to happen.

Strange to take that approach in a cup tie with their form.

Our approach to cup games over the last few years has been nothing short of a fucking disgrace.

And by that I do not just mean the tactics in games.

It's not too odd to set up a bit defensively against a team in a higher division. We lost 1-0 in the 95th minute.

Agree. A replay would have brought in extra money and we might have nicked it at home.

We'd all have liked us to have gone out more positively and won 3-0 at their place but we'd equally have been fuming if we'd have been stuffed for being naive and not keeping it tight.

Seems when you lose, you can't win.

But the manager wanted a cup run so why go for a defensive approach which will invite the opposition to attack and put pressure on our team? Surely an attacking approach would have better our chances of getting a result despite it being against a team one league higher who no disrespect to PA aren't exactly doing anything great in league one this season. Poor excuse and wrong set up imo.

We could have had 4 chances and lost 5 nil in our attempt to get those chances. Having lost 8 nil and 4 nil to two other league one sides this season, I'm not surprised our plan was to not concede first and then see what happens.

Unfortunately due to a injury disruption and a poor clearance from Timlin we didnt managed to do that.

I'd have been happy with a 0-0 and play more attacking at our place.

But you still actually have to create some chances to do that.

I just prefer to take the game to a side, particularly in a cup game against a side in the relegation spots in the league above and when your fans have travelled such a long way.

Correct. Plymouth don't look a bottom 6 side.

You can't just magic up chances. Their midfield were better than ours and our front man didnt hold the ball up well enough. Simple as that really. Our only chance was down the flanks. Only Seddon looked like getting any joy.

I say January can't come soon enough to get that box to box midfielder in. Then we have options to play Timlin, Joel and one other. There's nobody knocking on the door from within.

Getting the bloke on the pitch would be a start. That said Byrom/Timlin aren’t doing badly, so will be hard for Ball to break in without an injury/suspension you’d imagine.

I thought the same and he looked good when he played but then was pushed out to the left in an unusual formation and didn't get to show it.

If he played central as a box to box midfielder in sure he'd be good enough but we dont seem to have any space in the team for him because Dino wants to play Timlin and Byrom together and two up front.

Prior to losing to Sunderland they had beaten Scunthorpe away 4-1 and beaten Gillingham at home 3-1 so it looks like they had seen a turnaround in form. Also, they're a division above us at they are at home!
