End of year picks

By Balders (BALDOCKBORO)26/11 22:23Mon Nov 26 22:23:47 2018

3 players that have exceeded your expectations and 3 that have not met them...

My picks...

Exceeded
Cuthbert, a no-brainer. Thought he'd be slow and past his best.
Timlin, thought he'd struggle to nail down a starting place.
Byrom, I thought he'd struggle to keep up.

Not met
Newton, due to a run of injuries.
Revell, lost his eye for goal and looks short on confidence in front of goal after a promising start here and a consistently high work rate.
McKee, thought he'd be a key player this season, for whatever reason he's largely been forgotten.

Yes I know we still have a few games to go before the end of the year but I like being premature.

Can't disagree, although I always expected Timlin to start regularly.

I think McKee's problem is that he's being weighed down by the price tag that the club put around his neck.

I feel for McKee. Something has gone wrong for him, and i hope he overcomes it, or deals with it so he's back in the reckoning.

I think he has a decent Football League career ahead either here or away from the club.

Rumoured to have a poor attitude in training but that never came across in games. He made mistakes but he's a kid and given the frenetic pace of lower league CM I thought he was easily FL quality, I'd love to see him back pushing for a place.

Then he needs to change his attitude if the rumour is true, I think a few that are left from last year suffer from that rot that had set in.

It probably isn't. I read it on Twitter.

There is something going on I'm guessing but you don't get a pro contract and a bunch of good first team appearances at his age by behaving like a big-time Charlie.

I'd just hate to see his talent wasted.

I thought everything on Twitter and Wikipedia was fact.

You do when DS is in charge and you're one of his, somethings wrong, don't get me wrong he's got talent, will he use it tho?

He'll probably leave and do well elsewhere knowing us.

"You do when DS is in charge and you're one of his" and the chairman is pushing for young kids to be played so that they're put in the transfer window even though he absolutely doesn't want or need to sell them.

Definitely agree with Newton and McKee. McKee seems to have totally vanished, Sarll was singing his praises as the next big thing, does his face not fit? PW can't be too happy.
Is Newton injured again After scoring against Oldham?
I would also say Guthrie, from what I hear seems quite lazy and hasn't really lived up to the hype when he joined.

Haven't seen enough games to really comment on those who have exceeded expectations and Guthrie is just from what I've heard i haven't seen him.

Guthrie has been decent IMO

Sedden and Cuthbert have also been immense.

Kenner’s, newts and Nugent have all failed to impress

Agree with all of that Danny. IMO Guthrie is deemed as lazy by some because of his running style, but he works hard to get into spaces, especially down the channels. I personally think he’d do better with Newts up top. Revell works hard but hasn’t delivered enough with the end product this season.

McKee was one of Sarll’s boys, but is lazy and that’s why he won’t get into a Dino midfield. I wouldn’t swap him for Byrom or Timlin.

Exceed :
Cuthbert, clearly player of the season so far.
Seddon, one of our best loanees IMO.
Dieng, Stepped up and claimed the GK shirt.

Not Met:
Farman, I thought would be our best No. 1 since daisy in his prime.
Ball, Was hoping for another Bostwick...may come good in time.
Revell, The usual running and hold up play, but not scored enough though.
