On the scores app I use it says we had 3 on target to Northampton's 1.

5 off target

6 corners (to Northampton's 2)

and 53% possession.

These stats don't appear to reflect the people who stood in the horrible cold and moaned about how we were rubbish. They might not be accurate stats.

None of us can remember those attempts so must not have worked the keeper.

Neither side worked the keeper, it was two poor sides battling it out, them showing more quality, movement and intent on the ball and creating more (should have been two or three at HT) but either not quite connecting or overhitting the cut back after getting in down our left, but don't think either side can complain about a draw.

Much like last weekend, we would not have scored without their keeper ballsing up, but good hustle from Newts (who did far more in his cameo than Revell and Guthrie) and a tidy finish from Kennedy. We are still worryingly defensive away from home and so static when in possession though, nobody makes any movement to give players options on the ball. Hopefully when not bullying them, this Gatting chap will improve on that.

Horrendous weather but not an awful day overall and our first ever point at that ground. I am happy enough with it, and now cannot wait for a bath as soon as we get back.

First half was very poor from both sides and do we practice dead balls, they were terrible.
Last 30 mins we were the better team and actually looked like we wanted to win. Kennedy is starting to show some consistency, if he had pace he would be playing at a decent level. Guthrie needs a kick up the backside, for a big bloke he’s timid and lazy, just hope Newton can stay fit.
Deserved a draw, would have been more miserable coming home with a 1-0 defeat.

Kennedy at least always wanted the ball and tried to play forwards, second half especially.

Guthrie wound me up today, had 3 headers at goal and didn't test the keeper, the first half one a free header. A couple of balls into the channels he jogged after, Newton or Revell would have got to them. Won a few free kicks but did nothing else.

Revell likewise looks completely shot of any confidence.

I quite liked the 3 at the back, it meant Seddon didn't get forward as much as I'd like, and Hunt is too defensive to be threatening much down his flank as a wide midfielder but it was quite solid with Timlin in front.

Thought Timlin had a bit of a stinker when in possession, his passing was poor.

Farmans kicking wasn't great either.

Wildin should play on the wing/wide midfield more often, a better option than JCR.

As a spectacle it won't live long in the memory but a point away is always welcome.

And the big plate special Fish and Chips platter with a pre-match pint was nice.

The problem with the back three is the ease with which the opposition can get in behind you if you do not play it spot on, as seen multiple times first half.

Who were the 3 at the back? Henry Hunt and Cuthbert?

Our defence has changed quite a bit over the last handful of games. Have we kept the same back 5 for two consecutive games for a while?

I assume the weather wasn't great so conditions might have meant kicking, set pieces and passing were off today?

Can we also give a big shout out to the twat that went on the pitch to celebrate the goal (and got told by Kennedy to fuck off if my lip-reading was accurate).

Imagine getting thrown out, and maybe even a season ban from home games, of a drab 1-1 in Northampton.

Classy.
