Should Ronnie start tomorrow?

I think he is now on 499 appearances.

Therefore he should start tomorrow (as captain).

Like if you agree.

Dislike if you are a racist homophobe.

No.

Sentiment has no place in football while we still have a very slim chance of play-offs.

Play him Tuesday under the lights after we've lost today and have nothing left to play for apart from contract extensions and pride.

Might not be purely sentimental if Ronnie's 500th gives the other players a bit of 'do it for the captain on his big day'.

But I'm not going Tuesday.

He's featured regularly this season and it wouldn't be detrimental to the team.

Sentiment is the only thing we have left in football to make us different from a money making business that calls fans customers.

Not sure I can make Tuesday either yet.

You are right.

Bring him on at 85 minutes, up front if we're losing, extra defender if we...never mind, stick him up top.

I think we'll have to disagree on that.

Ronnie has obv got the experience and calm head but that's it. He's too slow and he stands too far off his man to try and compensate.

Positionally Luther was poor but he has got Better in that regard, altho' he is still found out of position occasionally, it's not that often anymore.

.He closes down quite well now too.

He gets forward as well as Ronnie ever did.

He has the pace to recover from mistakes.

I think he'll play in L1 comfortably in a couple of seasons.

I don’t think he will play comfortably at a higher level.

How about a wager? One pint of Boro Beer. We can meet back here in 2025.

Yes and we should also put him on penalties for the day too so he finally gets a chance to score that goal thats been eluding him for so long.

Absolutely!

The alternative to starting is to bring him on at some point so he can get a standing ovation and minutes applause.
