For taking Guthrie off and replacing him with Newton at half time.

First half we were a shambles. Not switched on at all at the back, didn't retain possession, no tempo whatsoever, it was so boring, and they got in three times by a simple ball over the top and should have been 3-0 up. Good header from Nugent (who was probably, along with Farman, MOTM, they kept us in it) fortunately takes us in level at the break.

I said at HT that Dino needs to get them switched on and go at them second half and an early goal should see us go on to win comfortably. The first part happened. Great to see Newton back and he looked very sharp too, despite the long layoff. He and Chair linked up nicely too. We looked dangerous every time we attacked. Makasi was in in miles of space with just the keeper to beat but put it straight at him. Has to score that.

Then we bring on Wilko and start sitting back and inviting them onto us. 30 minutes of the game still left and Sev and I were stood discussing how we were already sitting further and further back and inviting pressure. Then Ronnie comes on and we are even more defensive. Looks like we have seen it out and then we don't clear our lines deep into injury time and bang, two more points dropped. Four in two weeks, all late on and all that should be seen out.

Make no mistake, they deserve to be where they are, they are a very poor side. And don't believe any 'battling for their lives' cliched rubbish, they were not battling for anything. They were a poor side with no confidence, nothing more than a ball over the top and at 2-1 were all arguing amongst themselves. A good side keeps their foot down and wins that 3/4/5-1. We were on top, we were threatening, then we tried to see it out and got punished. Our defensive set up in the final 20 minutes of matches costs us, and it costs us far too often. At least last week we played a decent side, even if they didn't play like it. Today was so galling and entirely our own doing. It should not have happened. Not against that dogshit. We are not ruthless enough and are far too defensively minded and it has seen our season end earlier than it should have done.

So frustrating as today has been really enjoyable other than the first half and final 20 minutes.

Eight years ago this week we smashed Macc 4-0 at their place. That was often a cagey, defense minded, time wastey side, but when the opposition had an off day they would step on their throats.

Also Rob Sinclair.

Thanks Chuds for the run down and for your effort in going.

We do shoot ourselves in the foot more times than we have feet!

Sorry you only had 25 mins of worthwhile footie...a long old trek for that.

Notts County next, hope we don't do the same thing again.

Fortunately away days are not about the match! Good company, good chats, decent lunch with a couple of drinks beforehand, lovely Chinese grub a few mins ago and home shortly before 9pm, just in time for the highlights show.

Job jobbed :).

I know what you mean - more often its taking stock and making the most of the day whatever the result.

But wouldn't have been nice to see a a decent match, win, draw or lose. This kind of football is so depressing when we all know the players we have can do a lot better.

Looking back to the Swindon game, at 1-0 up we could easily have conceded by these common Dino tactics. It was only Chair on the counter when we got that spectacular 2nd goal.

It is a dangerous ploy where we seem to come unstuck more times than is necessary.

Oh well, safe journey to you and the other 126 away fans. Well done to all that made the journey and those that overcame the coach breaking down.

The others were terrible subs and putting everyone back played into their hands when we were in complete control.

His tactics are a massive reason we aren't closer to the playoffs and why we conceed so many late goals. So negative when we have the lead.

No outlet defending corners is by far the worst thing we do. Can someone give me a justification for why we do it?

Yep, master tactician once again, great result. It was worth sitting back packing out the defence to stop them scoring...oh, just a minute.

Why, oh why do we do this.

I’m surprised we went defensive so early. We were on top and should’ve tried for another for at least another 10 mins.
