Anyone good at sewing?

By Sev25/5 21:13Sat May 25 21:13:08 2019

When I get the new shirt (providing we haven't changed our club's colours too) I need someone to sew the old badge over the top of the new one for me.

I will not be turning my back on the best badge in football league.

If the club needs a shit badge to further its commercial position, fair enough, you use it, but us fans keep the better badge. I don't see why a club cant have two badges for different uses.

Compromise is needed.

That's a really good idea.

Wouldn't be too hard to market some polos/tees etc with the legacy badge for those dinosaurs who can't get with the times.

Could link in the diagonal stripes if there was a good enough designer...

The other option that should have been explored on the badge was to take the crest and simplify it (clean it up) so that it remained... but was more up to date and down with the kids.

When you look at all badges in the PL and down there are still a lot of them that are loyal to their crest. Hardly a non league thing.

Would have been a nice easy and satisfying job.

I assumed this was what the club were going to do, which I would've been happy with and was why I welcomed the change. I am in the camp that believed our badge was outdated and a bit "busy."

Can't say that what they've come up with is what I had in mind but hey ho, it's all too late now. Up the reindeers.

I've written to Sharon Taylor to see if she can do something about this madness that is killing our club.
She said she's never heard of Stevenage FC, so I told her we are playing Barcelona in the FA cup next week. She suddenly remembered she's a massive Boro fan and goes to most games.
She has promised to campaign to stop the badge change as long as we vote her at the next election.

Posted on Twatter earlier, I invested in a fair few Stevenage
branded clothing this year and wear them when away on holidays etc.

People chat to us when we're out and about because they recognise or identify with the club badge, one that I thought was too fussy and needed changing 6 months ago.

Have since changed my mind..... 🤔🤔

I didn't say they did.

This is why I've asked for compromise.

A deal. Commercially, on letterheads or whatever it is that they need a simpler badge for, they use the new badge. For classier things they have the old.

Old and new together. Like fans.

Like having a club logo (new, modern, generic, simple) and club crest (traditional, meaningful, classy, sophisticated)

That goes against all the pre-testing they did on the lab rats. Apparently all the clever rodents loved it!

By the way - that was also the official focus group.

The fact that there was a focus group doesn't detract from the fact that a professional graphic designer was actually happy to submit that 10-minute piece of garbage.
