Top effort to kid our League 2 rivals we will be a force to be reckoned with this season. I had anticipated we might snatch a draw tonight, just like our heroes of yesteryear did against Maldon and Tiptree a few seasons ago but it wasn’t to be alas

Pre-season, players missing and all, but that is five games in a row with very little created.

Solid at the back, playing the possession game, but no cutting edge in the final third. We are definitely missing something and need a spark.

I expect a lot of tight low-scoring games the first month or two.

Lovely day today though wandering about Maidenhead and its surrounds. Worth the day off work.

We need Newton to find a cutting edge. At the moment he's trying too hard to get a goal.

We've played 2 decent sides at home and have made a lot of changes in each game.. when we smash Salford 3-1 all will be good.

Practice and fitness and some money for clubs.

The results are meaningless, they count for nothing, the rules regarding subs etc aren't the same, there are trialists, no one is particularly bothered by the result so it's slightly different mentality to a cup final. Obvious reasons really.

But do they matter in the context of what you are implying. No.

I understand why we have them. I never understood why we charge to get in.

Then I found out how much referees, linesmen and 4th officials charge.

Made me sick to my stomach that most of the friendly money pays for them. Think about that when we scan your e-ticket Saturday

They could pick 4 out of the crowd that would do a better job who'd also do it for free.

Is there a law they have to be "professional"? Be good if we could use young local amateur refs learning their trade.

This is my true feeling as well. Interesting about the officials though. Still not sure why we charge £15. A more realistic price might get more through the gate. I might even turn up. Unless the club are purposely pricing me out.

Not going to panic yet, still plenty of time for things to get better in the final few games of pre season, if you have a look at our pre season games, we've made so many changes, there is no stability in the side throughout the 90 minutes (most have been getting 45 until the last game or 2) they are just starting to play 60- 75 minutes now some of them, I'll judge after Saturday how our pre season has gone, and where we still need to strengthen in the transfer window to compete after that.

We do not want another situation like last season when McKee "disappeared" and we all were left guessing as to why etc.

If a player doesn't like the manager and doesn't respect the methods then for the good of the group that players has to be removed no matter how good.

And since Reid hasn't prove himself anything special I'd have no hesitation at getting rid in such circumstances. Of course if he saw the error of his ways and was willing to reintegrate I wouldn't have a problem with that either.
