Smash and Grab

By Old Town Boro (SFC Interviews)20/8 21:46Tue Aug 20 21:46:36 2019

Watched the game on the Ifollow service tonight and it looked like a real smash and grab performance from Bradford the kind of performance like Bury last season, any one able to put in any incite who was there, Personally I think Dino will be annoyed we didn't get something from that because it looked like we played well enough to at least get a point imo.

It'd be lovely if we could switch possession more quickly. The number of times we ignored Wildin and Stokes in space to slowly work the ball about in the middle playing our way into trouble. Need our players to take the blinkers off and pick those passes out to get our attacks moving more incisively.

Played well tonight and deserved something from the game, defence looked very good.

Negative was too tippy tappy first half, very good the final 30 mins, need more of that attacking intent, upped the pace considerably.

Good to have Kennedy back, made an impact when he came on, just hope he shows more of it, he has the talent 👍

First half we were okay, sloppy in possession and lacked creative build up but we were okay. Bradford fortunate to go in at half time a goal up.

Second half we were much better. We actually had chances, pushed men forward and were unfortunate not to score.

I think it’s evident that Dino has a clear Lack of tactical experience. This is why I’m not overly fussed if we were to replace him right now. We’re chasing a game with 5 players at the back. Sacrifice one of the 5 and bring on a forward player. We’ve got someone sat on the bench who knows where the net is, albeit at a lower level but no one else has managed to score so far so he deserves a chance.

Kenner’s may not be fully fit but I’d bring him in for Taylor away at Mansfield. Thought he was poor tonight, as was Joel.

I’ll finish on the young Luis - thought he was immense considering he was playing against 2 very experienced strikers.

We played 3 at the back till 85 minutes, not 5. Stokes and Wildin as wingbacks were getting forward consistently even of some of the end-product wasn't there.

Joel poor? Fuck off. 1 wayward pass out of 100+. Nobody was poor tonight, Taylor tried to create but it just wasn't coming off.

When we finally get the rest of the injured lads back we'll start storming it up the league.

Take your ‘Joel’ tinted glasses off for a minute!! He gave the ball away on numerous occasions - one which led to Bradford countering us. I’m a fan of his, but he was off the pace tonight.

Again, Taylor gave the ball away too much, too cheaply. One touch too many every time he got the ball tonight.

Some people appreciate the 2019 Joel and his role within the squad. He’s not the linchpin, he’s a good experienced player that can do an effective job in midfield when required. He won’t play every game this season.

A few poor balls but some excellent passes too - in first half there was a phemomenal cross field ball to Stokes that set up a great chance. Don't think any of our other players could have managed it.

Certainly wouldn't replace Dino yet give him the chance when he has a fully fit squad and see if it's any different, certainly a fair amount of positives tonight with the negatives we all knew about still being in place which we won't be able to address overnight.

We started with three forwards the last two games.

Two on target in a promising performance ? Is that how low our expectations have come ?

Time to give Cowley a Chance ?

Too early to ask this perhaps but are the players bought in better than the players we let go ?

Now I get injuries make things tough right now , but it’s not in defence where our issue is , it’s up front and creating chances , are the injuries really hampering that , or more the pattern of play ( or clear lack of ) and lack of creativity ?

Are injuries letting Dino off the hook for a poor start or truly hampering his abilities to get this team progressing ?

From the games I've watched on iFollow, Kurtis is looking like the passenger he was for 80% of last season.

So many crosses today put into dangerous positions with him no where to be seen.

In the second half there was one instance where he was rolling around in the penalty area despite the ball still being in a dangerous position out wide, ready for a cross. He wasn't injured, so he should have been up and ready for an opportunity
