Our Manager, bless him

What is it with you Boro supporters? You're seeming praise for a manager whose has really done SFA.
I noted a telling statement from someone who wrote that last year without Chair we were nothing. So forget the unreal spectacle of us being close to the play-offs last year. Dino, lovely man, but who is closer to the Conference than the Football League.

Let's get real. We have a nice new stadium, some good players and fantastic supporters, What we don't have is a manager who is adept at looking further than protecting us from life below League 2.

That's the way it is, sorry but dismiss this at your peril. Conference football beckons.

No stand to go to

A nice new stadium? where's that been built and when does it open? Because I believe the 2 home games this season have been played at the Lamex stadium.

Its irrelevant what you or I think, only the chairman. It could go either way from here, but who ever was in charge would struggle with this injury list. When that's cleared up we will a better idea. Imo, we have we pretty good squad, when fit.

Which of the unavailable players do you think will improve the lineup?

Parrett is an acceptable answer if you add that he’ll probably be injured a week later.

I'm not going to spend a lot of time pretending to be the manager. Unlike some on here, I don't think I'm better than him. However, I'd reinstate last seasons centre back three, then I'd have more choice in midfield when I wasnt using them as makeshift defenders.

I dont spend much time on here these days. Its more depressing than the news.

I would say the balance of the team might be affected by injuries to so many defenders.

We have Stokes at LWB when I thought he was a central or left sided defender. Wildin played centre back as did Soares. Is this preventing us creating things wide or winning battles in the midfield? No Parrett, the only player who could come near being as creative as Chair was. Is this hindering us?

Who knows. What I do know is it will be very unlikely we don't score a few goals this season. And we must have a fair number of games each season where we dont score a goal. Just happens they've all come at the start.

Saw Alex Revell in Asda yesterday. Maybe should've asked him to come back from retirement?

Ooh, that is a good one! My stats include all sorts of things including clean sheets but never measured number of times we have been shutout.

I'll get back on this tomorrow evening when I get back from work. Fun!

Edit: Had a quick look now at the seasons I know we didn't score many. In 12/13 we failed to score in 14 games including four in a row to end the season. In 15/16 we failed to score in 17 games, with runs of three and four shutouts in a row. Our worst seems to be in 13/14 where we failed to score in 19 of our 46 games and got relegated, although interestingly never had a run of more than two games without scoring. So over a quarter of the way to our worst ever shutout season already. Better get scoring boys!

In terms of longest runs without a goal, the current club record(s) are 6 overall (04 April 1988 - 23 April 1988, relegated), 3 (14 April 2017 - 06 May 2017) at home and 6 (15 March 2014 - 16 August 2014, relegated) on the road.

Dean Parrett's goal against Southend has saved us the unwanted pleasure of going into Saturday's game with the prospect of equalling that home stat and setting a new overall record.

I’ve not seen much of the players, so can’t say too much. But... Shirley the defensive players moving back into midfield isn’t going to do much to help the goalscoring?

If you mean Cuthbert, Nugent and TVC I'm sure that's Dino's plan.

Although the current back three (Soares, Fernades ades and Watts) have done well.

Soares IMO based on what I've seen is a better CB than CM.

Yes, those three. I'd still reinstate them if possible. The right balance in midfield then becomes key.

I'm optimistic, we'll get it sorted. It may be too late to top the league by then, mind...

I'm also optimistic, we'll get it sorted, but not sure who will be in charge when we do though.
Perhaps if the current managers tactics were more positive it might help. It is up to you Dino!

Five games in. Five

And fantastic support? We took 97 fans yesterday. 97. Embarrassing. And a fair bit of those was players families. Had a nice chat with Lakins family
