Mentally, a big win!

By Boromatt8/10 23:43Tue Oct 8 23:43:35 2019

Not getting too excited just yet because of a tough game on Saturday. However, that tonight was big for the team! Regardless of it being The EFL Trophy, to win in competitive game was a step in the right direction. Let’s not forget the last time we beat an EFL side was back last season, so that tonight was massive for the players.

Going forwards, Saturday IMO is make or break. A win and I honestly think the team will start to climb the table. A loss would be devastating for the team after tonight. All eyes on Saturday!

I think Sampson did the right thing in picking a relatively strong team. Finally coming off the pitch as a winning side in a competitive game, at the 15th attempt, will hopefully be a shot in the arm.

I don’t think Saturday is make or break. The party line is that there’s no plans to interview (why would GW need to interview?). If Scunthorpe and Morecambe start to put a few more points between themselves and us however that could change.

For me, the next permanent manager needs to be in situ come the beginning of November. Gives him time to prepare for the January window.

You're talking less than three weeks from today to advertise, interview and appoint a new manager. Surely it should wait until the end of November / mid-December? Even then only if things haven't improved enough.

Not sure we should be looking at Scunthorpe and Morecambe tbh. We dont know who is going to be down the bottom at the end of the season. Should just focus on ourselves and the points we can get. Target a certain number of points by each period. 24 points by end of the year for example.

Long term we shouldn’t be looking at them but over the next few matches they are the sides we need to be trying to overhaul in the table. Focusing on ourselves is important but ensuring we don’t get cut adrift at the bottom
is just as important.

A win is a win no matter the opposition or the competition.

So much of football is mental so who knows what will happen Saturday but last night's result can only be good.

I get the distinct impression that some on here want us to fail just to prove a point.

Pretty childish really.

I don't want to ever see a club I've supported since 1995 fail regardless. I refuse to go to games because of the boring football that was played last season. I really hope we stay up and start climbing the table. whoever does want us to fail are deluded imo.

I dont know you so therefore cannot really say if I like you or not. I was just taking the piss out of you, from another of your comments. Don't take yourself so seriously. Seems to be a few people like yourself on here are a bit oversensitive. But that's just my opinion.

Anymore cliches?

CMS just needs one to go in off his backside and then a run of goals will come?

Yeovil won a few games last season but it didn’t become a ‘nature’.

Good to win last night. Completely irrelevant if we don’t win on Saturday.

Too many highs and lows in this place.
