Can't make Walsall away (pesky tag), so was looking to go for a pint and listen to the scores etc.

Where would you recommend to indulge myself in an afternoon of beer and betting.

(No aggro)

The Dun Cow is nice. It's a country and western theme bar nowerdays so always a great atmosphere.
The Henry Trigg is good. Just opened.
Red lion is a lively jaunt.
Marquis is a LGBT bar now. Very decedent.

I didn’t know there was a new place in the OT. Nice one. Saying that, I only drink on trains these days. With Diane Abbott.

It's called The Broken Seal and sells very expensive craft ales of sometimes silly strengths. It has all the atmosphere of a betting shop in Jeddah, and expect to pay minimum £6 for a pint. I'd aim for my usual, the Marquis.

LOL! Didn't get the Banker Bob 'seal' of approval.....

I've got a ''lovely'' Marstons Christmas Ale which is overpriced and has a sprig of holly on the badge coming in this Thursday for a barrel or 2.

Will pop in and try that if it's a Dark ale, not a fan of Amber ones.

Do like an overpriced Christmas Ale 👍

My word, the Unicorn... Iirc it was the last pub in the High Street with a licence for beer and wine only ie no spirits (and no, it wasn't an Adnams pub, so no Ghost Ship!)

See Hugh Madgin - He brewed a Buckingham Palace ale commercially not many years back on those very premises. He also brewed Sandcastles Ale for me to commemorate a Lytton Players' world premiere of the same name that I directed written by the late great Bob Larbey..
