I'd say the exclusive reason for Christmas is due to Christians believing that it's the birth date of Jesus Christ, who they also believe to be the son of God and our saviour sent to earth. The holiday wouldn't exist without that belief. And I'm more than happy with it being called Christmas on this basis, especially as it gives me a day off work. I'm as snowflakey as they come, but calling it anything other than Christmas is ridiculous. I'm also more than happy to take days off work for all other religious festivals, irrespective of the deity.

"The holiday wouldn't exist without that belief." Despite the fact there was already a festival at this time of year prior to Christianity being a thing.

I know I'm old, but that was a bit before my time. I'm assuming the festival you refer to was some sort of pagan shindig. As a practising druid, I like to sun my perineum in the vicinity of a pile of stones on every equinox I can find. Would we still celebrate your historic winter festival nowadays if the baby Jesus hadn't been born? Who knows. The point I'm making is that Christmas is a holiday celebrating the birth of the baby Jesus. It's even got his name in it. Just because some of us may think this is a load of old flannel and just use it as an excuse to break open the drambuie, doesn't mean it has to be called something else to be inclusive to non-beliebers.

Listen, any more of your nit picking and you're banned from the next Drinks Break Sweepstake.

The festive period is a holiday celebrating families. It coincides with some minority Christian thing, but most of us are too busy indulging ourselves with massive dinners and swapping presents with one another to do anything actually religious. ;-p

25 December was chosen as the date for Christmas Day to coincide with pagan festivities.

Jesus was actually born on 25 September, the result of a Pagan Day shag. He's long gone so can't sue.

Immaculate insofar as no stains on any sheets or curtains, a fine dismount and no tears afterwards from mom or pop I'm guessing.

The story just got exaggerated over time to the whole virgin thang.

The key thing being that no one can really prove any of it NOR deny any of it with complete and utter clarity. That’s the way the world, as we have been born into it, works.

In the same way that none of us can really know what is going on in terms of NASA and so many other vague, confusing, agenda forced and secretive hearsay’s.

One thing you can know is that despite all modern agendas we basically, as humans, should know what is right and wrong. You don’t have to believe everything that is pushed onto you.

Instinct is key. And Christmas has been abused over time (especially in recent decades) as an event whether you are religious or not.

“Santa Claus” and all the Coca Cola branding history (that’s really a thing) is just a small part of it. Being Christian or not, having faith or not, there is nothing wrong in believing in fairness, love and being a decent soul. Beyond that it’s a flip of a coin.

Said in the group earlier that if the badge wasn't on the elbows that would be amazing.

I am thinking of adding elbow patches like a 90s Geography teacher to get around it.

Edit: Interesting. They check all reviews before allowing them to appear on the site.
