Remember when Dino hired Sampson and said he was an old friend etc etc spoke to him, deserves a second chance etc etc

Things must have turned pretty sour at some point for this to go so far.

Indeed:

59. This was not a case where it could sensibly be said that a witness had somehow been
mistaken about what had, or had not, been said at the relevant time. Put simply, some of
those giving evidence had lied. It is clear that misplaced loyalty and a willingness to be
untruthful was an inescapable part of this case. Collusion of evidence, one way or another,
was unattractively at play in this case.

A sad state of affairs that has to some degree tarnished the names of all involved directly, including the club itself.

In the absence of any concrete evidence on both sides, the outcome seems logical, inevitable and most probably fair. As the hearing itself could not come to a definitive conclusion, it is important that we don’t try to assert blame and responsibility on their behalf when we were there and don’t know the facts.

This is not a declaration of guilt, nor is it an endorsement of innocence, so best we don’t have opinions and risk siding with or accusing anyone.

Before the not guilty doesn’t equal not proven argument ensues

All of this is just sad

We don’t know the impact the charge had on Marks ability to do his job and two people who had a lot of respect at the clubs reputation has been ruined.

But atleast we can move forward.

But as a guy who had a lot of respect for Dino and Ali. Pathetic

If it happened then shame on those at the club for letting Sampson continue in his role and not nipping it in the bud as soon as it happened. If it didn’t happen then shame on those who reported it, seemingly out of spite because they no longer work for the club.

What this has to revealed to me is an insight into how putrid and chaotic things have probably been behind the scenes in the first 4 months of the season.

We look at the squad and wonder where the cohesion, unity and collectivity is on the field. Imagine it must have been quite a fractious environment to work in.

No one has come out of this in a good light when reading the findings in full.

What's come out about how Dino conducted himself is not pleasant, lost all respect for him. Ali, don't care.

Agree, the club, Mark, fans etc can now move on. Unless the FA/Ali can appeal that is....

They can't appeal.

They can try and sue in a civil court. But given the rules of evidence are far more stringent in a civil court than in an FA hearing, albeit the burden of proof is the same, they stand very little chance of winning In my unqualified opinion and I doubt the LMA would fund the lawyers, and I'm not sure Dino wants to risk his mortgage on it. Can't see kick it out or anyone else touching it either.

It should be tomorrow's chip paper from hereon in.

Not proven and not guilty are different things.

I won’t apologise for not being fond of the man but then I wasn’t one of those calling him a racist. He’s clearly a good coach, hopefully everyone can leave this behind now and that’ll improve his performance in his job which in turn will help us improve on the pitch.

Oh aye, I was just trying to cause trouble :).

FWIW I took a liking to Sampson from the off and really want(ed) him to succeed. Not actually sure why. But I am pleased for him that this is now over and that he can focus solely on doing his job. And I know he is very thankful to our club, for both giving him the chance in the first place and for sticking by him over this. This can only be good for us as he feels he owes us and will be determined to succeed with us.

I think his impact after Dino left should not be understated either. He took a toxic club and training ground and turned it into one of unity and happiness. The players clearly are very fond of him and he clearly also has a good coaching input and stopped the rut of us hardly ever scoring and losing all the time to make us very hard to beat and to get us scoring. He gave us/GW a good platform to build on with just a few tweaks needed. Very wise of PW to keep him here I think in order to retain that consistency on the training ground and to ensure the players still had that relationship they could go to.

This case might be over, but that very poorly written article on the web somewhere (which, paraphrasing, said "Should Sampson be allowed by the FA to be Stevenage manager?") dragging up the England case when this charge was made shows that there are people out there waiting for an opportunity to finish him off.

I'm not sure the underlying stuff is ever going away.

Indeed he has. But I advise anyone commenting to read the entire judgement - all 19 pages of it. The pertinent words were: ‘The truth was unquestionably hard to find’. Neither of the parties, Sampson and Dino and the other bloke, come out favourably from it imho. Clearly something happened in that room but it came down to one’s word against another.

Yeah it's 'not proven' as opposed to 'not guilty' - in Scotland this is actually a third possible trial outcome but not in England.

Regardless
1) None of us really knows where Ash's chair was
2) Dino wanted to sign El-Abd so sympathy must be limited
