I enjoy playing crazy golf but I'm terrible at it. If I was a world class golfer I'd probably enjoy it less and get much better results. There's no correlation other than in hackneyed footballspeak.

Revs talked about players knowing their job. I think the enjoyment comes from that, not the other way.

Don't completely disagree with you.

As with anything however, if you don't enjoy the day to day of what you're doing, your performance is going to suffer. The most successful teams has been made up of people not only passionate about the game, but people who are loving going in and training, learning and playing it every day.

There may be the odd player here and there that do not conform to that extremely general rule, but I don't imagine you'll find that many.

I agree with Revs here.

What he said made sense to me. He isnt saying they have to enjoy losing. He is saying that if players are unhappy, stressed, anxious, they are arent going to perform well.

To get the results we need they have to be enjoying what they are working hard for. Creating the right mindset and environment to win in are incredibly important.

What the ET did on Saturday was a big step towards what we need. It could be the difference between us and say Notts County last year which I imagine was an unenjoyable pressure cooker.

He clarified what he meant on SG1 radio and it was pretty much that, we all need to support now like we did Saturday, Trebbs rant at the end of the season will be fun.

Good luck to him, he clearly cares for our club and wants us to do well, not bad for a Cambridge fan 😎

Things that jumped out to me from the interview:

a) he values hard work, high energy and high tempo.
b) he wants more coordinated, rehearsed, cohesive attacking.

I think we could (assuming he's able to implement it) have stumbled onto a gold mine here. He sounds like a lot of the things we love about Westley's teams, but more in touch with modern coaching methods and styles.

I'm genuinely excited for tomorrow now.

It was a good interview last night. What I took from the whole "having fun" thing was that you need your players to be calm enough to take the chances that come their way and minimise mistakes. If you are stressed by your predicament to the point playing because a nervous making chore and playing stops being enjoyable you are more likely to make mistakes.

I think this is something else we maybe overlook about lower league footballers... is their ability to handle pressure.

Anyone who's watched England at a World Cup, with the exception of 2018, will know that even the top players in England can't handle pressure very well. Especially when that pressure comes as a result of the media or the general public getting on their back for making a mistake. And those players are at the top of their game - physically, technically and of course mentally. As you move down the divisions, I think the player's ability in each of those categories will start to diminish. There's players with great technical skills, but who are poor physically, etc.

So maybe the pressure of being at the bottom of the league has a much bigger effect on the players mental state than we are giving allowances for. I'm not making excuses for them - they're professional players so they need to figure it out - but I don't think it has really been discussed just how utterly shit being at the bottom of the league will be making you feel.

I think Revs is just trying to be positive, just as Wezzle was before him, and Sampson before that. The players likely don't need any additional pressure on top of the pressure they're already putting themselves under. These players probably all dream (or dreamt at some point) that they might play in the Premier League, so fighting at the bottom of the league isn't where they want to be. They're not just going to roll over and accept it because they "don't care". Or at least I hope they wouldn't.

These things are things Westley will have been working on over the past 10 weeks. The players that Revs is inheriting should be in a better condition and have a better understanding of what is required than they were back in December.

In many ways we have 'used' Westley as a quick demolition and rebuild job that worked for both Preston and Newport.

Yep. Not heard an interview from Revs that I didn't agree with.

Also interesting to hear his comments about Sampson. Not the first time I have heard that. Yet a few people on the terraces know best and want him gone as it is all his fault despite him never actually being proper manager.

And I have already decided I really like Revs and he will do well so buckle in for me fighting his corner every step of the way. It's good when I decide on every manager instantly and won't often be swayed :).

Sadly I have to agree with you. I like Revs and of course I want him to succeed, but picking up your first management job in these circumstances must rank as the ultimate hospital pass. 'Thank you, Phil. Thank you so fucking much...'
We all know we are bottom for a reason. While there is a fair amount of mediocrity in the last third of League Two, after 34 games we are where we deserve to be. We've taken that mediocrity to a new level, and the more I think about the serial self-harming that has taken place since
the last time we sacked GW, the angrier I get with the chairman. That's where the buck stops.
I honestly don't care about the money I chucked into Phil's promotion fund (we would surely be in trouble without it) but I do care about the way the football side has been run.
Frankly if we survive we won't deserve to. It will be down to the financial 'crimes' of Bury, Macclesfield or Oldham. Revs has no experience in this role, despite Chuds protestations (secretly I'm sure he's already researching his entry for next year's SA Conference Prediction Competition).
To expect Revs to get us out of this is simply not credible.

Thanks jayess. I got 5 dislikes from people thinking that Revs is the man to save us when three other managers he was working with this season couldn’t. It beggars belief that Revs and his vacuous interview is the answer to our problems. Chuds was recently chastising those he thought had ‘blind faith’ but by God he’s got some in Revs! I hope we win every game and amass the points we need to stay up, but I’ll bet you right now we’re not going to do it. There is no evidence, or reason, to believe he can deliver anything except more of the same.
