One would assume from today's photos that TVC and Iontton are our 2 contracted players that PW mentioned.

Apparently all out of contract apart from 2 or 3 at 30/6.
TVC definitely one and sure someone thought Dabo was possibly the other.

I think we have options to extend contracts of many. I guess we are waiting until we know our fate before commiting.

I think the best option for most though is cheerio.

If we were going to exercise our option to extend, under the pre-agreed/same T&Cs wouldn't we have to do that before expiry of existing contracts?

Otherwise said players would be out of contract and any offer would be a new contract, giving the player the option to decline or negotiate new terms.

Accepting that the market will be different and offers won't be as generous as they might have been, potentially putting more of the power in the hands of the clubs.

maybe we have elected to let all the contracts expire then put a worse "take it or leave it" offer on the table?

There will be plenty of better players looking for clubs and available for less money.
That said, I would keep Farman, Newton (assuming we are confident we can keep him fit) and Cuthbert, in that order, if it made commercial sense to do so.

Would keep

Farman
Cuthburt
Carter
TVC
Wildin
Newts if he can stay fit.

Also think Revs could get a player out of Eliott List, so would prob keep him.

Wildin is one of the worst right backs I’ve ever seen for us.

I disagree. I know his form dropped off a bit but I think you put him in a good team and he thrives. He was always left on his own to cover the entire right wing.

I also think he has had bigger things going in in his life which may have been a distraction (he was bone marrow donor not long ago) so if he's now in a better place with the right focus, training and help on the pitch he could become a useful asset.

It was interesting that Revs picked him out for praise after he had a mare at Crewe. Either something going on there or Revs is stupid.

I would potentially keep him but not as first choice right back going into the next season.

Maybe I just picked the wrong games to watch him play.
But he looked so much out of his depth. Maybe it was Westley and Dino’s fault, actually.

From first seeing him in pre-season friendlies I commented that he looks like he should play midfield rather than defence as defensively he looked weak and was often caught out of position, relying on his pace to get him out of trouble.

As this season went on, for whatever reason, he has looked more and more vulnerable defensively. He hasn't been helped by having very little protection or support, but he just doesn't look like a defender in any way.

I do think he could be a decent player further forward though and would be happy to keep him if he isn't too much of a financial burden (which I doubt he is).

You're not alone, a lot of people don't rate him.

I just see potential I guess, because of his athletic ability and pace.

He’s great in my Fifa 20 game. Still first choice in the championship.

So it’s nothing personal. 😂

He looked decent when he first came, good going forward and crossing and perhaps left us exposed at the back occasionally, but that's the modern full back. The rest of the team should be able to cover when the full back goes forward.

Suspect he would look excellent in a good team.

No chance. His crossing ability is nowhere near good enough. He takes far too long to get a cross in.

Agree. I once said to a previous manager, why don't you play him further forward? He replied 'OK Jose'. So I took my leave.

I think last season didn't help he was trained to fuck in pre season. Whilst not being fully fit. Just what 1 or 2 have fed back to me.

I'll look forward to seeing the real Luther next season.

Probably because our forwards were hiding and the midfield hadn't bothered getting into the box most of the time

Or the forwards were in the box having a picnic waiting for the cross.

To be honest with you I can’t remember seeing him cross the ball much. He can take on a man though. I think it would be easier to teach him the right time to get a ball in to the box (and work on that delivery) than to eradicate his defensive shortcomings.

Wildin looked promising initially but seems may have been found at this level now.
Would also keep Fernandez ( in act we may end up keeping all home grown players if the new rule comes in).
On the fence at moment but Digby may also warrant a years contract.

I'd also keep CMS, Dabo and Byrom too. I suppose it all depends on our fate but surely we can bin off about 30 of the 45 players we have on the books straight away?

Email received from Tifosy showing club by club and the percentage of payers out of contract at the end of June. Ours sits at 97%. Thank god it is, it also shows 740 players will be out of contract across League 1 and 2. Clearly a decent "pot" of players to look at and try to secure for next season.

That graph makes be think that we might be one of the only clubs left. They can all vote whichever way they want but it wont be easy to pay those wages for next season.
