Announcement by the club

It has now been 36 hours since the announcement of the punishment and our relegation to the conference.

I expected by now to have heard some announcement on their opinion of the macclesfield punishment and also their way forward in accepting our fate or appealing the decision

Sounds like Phil has kind of accepted our fate a little. Good to hear his opinions on Revs, sounds like we’ve got a gem there for the future. 12th September as a start will be interesting in so many ways. The testing, clubs financials. There’s one thing for certain, we have to get back playing soon with income and revenue apparent.

We could actually be better off been relegated if potentially we don't have to play games with no crowds. If we are in L2 we may have to and as PW says we may not survive. If we go under loads of other clubs will too who are in a much worse situation financially than us.

The club would still get some income from streaming the games live in L2........this won’t happen in the conference.

But there won't be behind closed door games in the conference, according to the NLP quoting the FA. So there is no need for streaming.

In the conference you'll either have no games or games with fans attending.

In League 2 you might have games without fans, and the ability to stream them instead.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, part of Maccs punishment on Friday is a fine and needing to complete a professional business plan by the end of July or they won't be allowed in

Aye, as I said elsewhere I think if something happened before the season had ended, the AGM had taken place, and the league constitutions had been agreed upon for the new season by member clubs and FL, then we could stay up.

If this had already happened then the FL would run a team light again, as with Bury.

I don't in any way imagine whatever Macclesfield do or do not provide would make any difference, and think we have no hope left of staying up, but as of yet we are not officially down.

I'd suggest firstly our QC will be doing some research and presenting options.

Second we will be seeking clarification on the NL start date cut-off date and conditions.

Only then can we say anything meaningful whether that is

We don't agree but we have sought advice and accept the need to move on to prepare for NL

We don't agree and we are still seeking clarification

We don't agree and we have set the lawyers loose.

The fact the Stevenage Twitter hasn't posted anything for two days about anything suggests the silence is intentional.

I'd rather they take their time and release something when they've considered everything and not just a reactionary statement.

Our relegation has not been confirmed officially by anyone anyway, so arguably there is nothing to release a statement to.

All we know is the Macclesfield decision and everyone has assumed that means we are 100% relegated. When actually it's only about 99% certain.

Until the National League sorts its side of things out for next season we will have to wait for the 100% confirmation.

I agree. I don't think it will hurt to give it a couple of days and/or wait for confirmation before issuing a statement. Especially as the independent panel's verdict dropped late on a Friday evening. Time isn't very pressing while we're in semi-lockdown still with no clear path to the 2020-21 season.

Known to Macclesfield maybe, but our club didn't know even at 7pm on Friday, according to people ITK

Edit: and you could argue why should we have been told. Our position hasn't changed - we were bottom, we still are bottom and the same caveats apply as they did before about relegation. Although personally I believe out of respect and courtesy they would have told us.

Yeah given the lateness of it on Froday, the EFL have probably shut for the weekend and we may have been trying to get some sort of clarification from them as to what exactly our position is. They'll read the emails from the club tomorrow at 9am, before replying, no idea at which point the club will release a statement saying fuck knows. But probably put in a more lengthy and professional manner.
