I think this is a great idea by the club. If the club don’t have the money to refund ASAP, I think option 1 is quite a good initiative. Just never would’ve thought it would be for The National League.

Option 1 on the Boro refund would be a lot more appetising If they would maybe give every ST holder next season the name on seat free ...
They expect us to keep giving but give fuck all back 🙄

That’s now Bond wavered yearly south stand money wavered and now SIX home games !!!

They are offering ST the chance that have first Dibbs at buying a new ST ?? 🤣🤣 they get that anyway !!

I will choose option 1 because that’s what we always fi just annoys be that they keep taking but give nothing back

I understand why ST holders are a little disgruntled when new fans are offered better deals. But they are wrong to be annoyed about it, in my opinion, and have completely the wrong perspective.

The fact is, existing ST holders need just enough encouragement to keep their season ticket. If the majority of ST holders are renewing, then they've got that amount right. New customers, on the other hand, need more of an incentive to come along. Thus, get better deals. Literally any company that deals with contracts applies this methodology. Whether it be banks, phone companies, or internet companies. I find it absurd that football ST holders think football clubs should be any different.

So, instead of ST holders moaning about how newcomers get a better deal and how "it isn't worth having a ST if they're giving away x games for free" how about thinking about what the real goal is... getting more fans through the gate. Getting fans through the gate who may eventually become season ticket holders. Getting more fans through the gate who may eventually help propel this club forward.

The number of people who only see it as being about themselves is astounding. Actually, it isn't. Most people are selfish so I shouldn't really be surprised.

P.S. This isn't really aimed at you, moreso ST holders in general who constantly bitch about not getting the best deal.

This isn't the best comparison to be fair: "Whether it be banks, phone companies, or internet companies. I find it absurd that football ST holders think football clubs should be any different."

These are 'must haves' in the world today, and people have to spend money on them. Not only that, but the people signing up for the 'new customer special' are those who are leaving the place they're at because they're not appreciated.

In terms of a football club coming off a relegation, and very little entertainment reward for financial outlay for supporters the goal isn't really to find dissatisfied customers from a competition (which is considerably reduced compared to banks and internet providers), the competition isn't so much from another provider, but customers saving money.

I disagree that theyre signing up for a 'new customer special' because theyre not appreciated. I think that a lot of the time it's simply because they want to take advantage of a deal.

I'm not entirely sure I understand your last point. We're not really trying to entice people away from competitors, we are trying to entice anyone who isn't watching Stevenage to come and watch Stevenage, irrespective of whether they are currently watching another team or watching no team. Our competition isn't really other teams. Our competition is any activity that people are doing at 3pm on a Saturday.

Fair point on the first part, so to clarify - they leave because the grass is greener elsewhere. If they had the same deal with their current provider as a "we appreciate you, please stay" deal, would they leave?

On the second part, that's 100% my point but with current supporters. Having spent money last season to not be entertained, watch relegation happen, and an absolute circus of coaching and management changes, wouldn't it make sense to have something that would want to keep people engaged?

Yes so maybe you can see why a poxy little sticker with our names on seems like a trivial thing I but it’s principle of the thing ...

Quick to take that amount of money and even ask to waiver the interest payment but hold their hands out for TWENTY QUID fa piece for your name on your seat !! Tbh it should be free to everyone that supports the club by buying their ST in advance every year !

I know it’s all turnt into a laugh and banter and ole boycies moaning again about a pathetic sticker but it grates that no matter how loyal you are or have been to the club over the years you still don’t get any thanks or little gestures !

We have supported boro many many years tbh Dave and have always felt parr of the club , from diadora, Ryman , Vauxhall’s conference , etc etc and have always bought into the club with their little money initiatives .. ie boro bricks , social nights sponsored players every year and this was a nice way to be part of it ...

Tbh the offer was ... an exclusive “dinner” evening for all investors a photo with the team infront of the new stand ... name on ‘plaque” Etc and few more things ...

I’m with Boycie , not sure if many know this but despite supporting the club before it was even a team I have never bought a season ticket Or even been a member of the supporters association , as it has always felt wrong ( mad I know ) to discount what I pay to the club in anyway . I have always paid over the odds every season as I see it as my way of giving to the club. Now I know we feel short changed currently but my goodness we have had value for money over the past 40 years in the round.

I have had a ST for God knows how many years, I have invested in the new stand, I have given up my interest payment to the club, I will give up my ST refund to the club and all I ask for in return is to see us adopt an awful new badge, to show absolutely no quality or entertainment on the pitch, to rarely score a single goal in front of our fans, to rarely win a single match, and to get relegated back to where we came from.

The club have given me all I wanted.

Looking at how our season went, I wouldn’t be surprised if we were purposely shit.

Four managers. Not even giving one of them a transfer window. Getting rid of one of the managers but keeping him on the coaching team. Getting rid of your only strikers that are scoring.
Having 50 players.
Signing injured players. Replacing them with players who don’t even play. Persisting with players who aren’t performing well enough.

I’ve let them know I am happy to wait until they have the money to give me my refund. Cash in hand.

Two points per week, doubled on missed payment.

I don’t know what points are, but they keep mentioning it in Sopranos.

I think "can't afford" is a phrase rather than an exact fact.

Insolvent means you can't cover your debts. But we have assets that could be sold to meet our debts. So we can cover debts we just don't want to in that fashion if avoided, because that would put the club under greater strain etc.

In reality, Phil underwrites our losses anyway, and that's why we can continue to trade as a going concern.

As long as our balance sheet is positive (don't know the current position) we aren't insolvent.

I've donated. Only paid £99 after all.

I could see some people being unscrupulous who only paid £99 and attempt to get 6 tickets for next season, which would have face value of more than their entire season ticket cost!
