Based on the entirely fair PPG which takes into account who you played, when you played them, what players you had... probably Sampson, because he managed to get some bore draws in our easiest home fixtures.

Started the rot. Signed a load of shit injured players.
Sampson improved Dino’s side a bit without signing any transfers.
Westley made the side worse whilst bringing in players(again)
Revs didn’t get a chance but lost two, so can’t win.

Round up decides Sampson wins.

Has he left yet?

So I assume that means we agree that:

Westley got us into the League One Playoffs
Gary Smith relegated us from League One

Just thinking about Cowley. He scored six thousand goals a season, or something like that, during his non league days and we've just parted ways with him as we head back to non league? Er?...

Yes totally agree. I was going to post similarly on here and ask if anyone knew if he had any fall out with the staff there / attitude problem - or something that suggested he would not fit.

Otherwise I cannot understand why we would let a young striker - with proven ability in non league and great potential that we bought less than a year ago - go.

What did he do wrong? Unless, of course, he just decided to leave for his own reasons.

Anyone know?

He's 25/26 next season. Not as young as you think. If he was 21 I'm sure he'd still be here.
Had a couple of personal issues happen and he was a long way from home.

Young in the undiscovered Hayles / Ian Wright sense but yes not a child and clock ticking I know...

I did wonder if there were some personal or temperament issues there. Otherwise I guess they might have kept the door open for him.

Thanks!

But if he'd been a Wright or Hayles we'd have known about it already.

I seem to recall, perhaps someone could confirm, that Revell was working closely with Cowley during the Dino/Sampson spells (in his role as coach).

So you would think Revell would know him as well as anyone. So I assume he just didn't fit into Revell's plans / style he wants to play. Especially since he has signed two big, strong forwards. (Or our valuations didn't meet. i.e. Cowley believes he is worth more than we were prepared to pay).

Good to hear from someone who knows a bit more about it. On face value I just didn’t understand him being let go as, whether I had any reason to or not, he seemed to me an exciting gamble and, considering the other signings recently, maybe the only one I was excited about.

Also felt that e new signings (without racial stereotyping) might have added to some kind of Heskey Owen link up even just as a fair weather option.

But if Revell worked with him and had the option to keep him then I guess he must have made an educated decision.

I'm just speculating like you, dont know anything more than you.

I was surprised, and he was one I thought was worth keeping particularly at National League level.

Time will tell whether it's a mistake if he turns up at another conference club and bangs in 20 goals. Wouldn't be surprised!

You are guaranteed to know more than me!

And that’s right - if he stars for some other club (at any close level) in the next season or so - it’s going to be a hand to head slap moment.

Good luck to him and who knows - maybe we’ll get lucky with a few diamond in the rough signings this year that actually play a part in a campaign. You never know.

Don't get the 'he scored loads of goals in non-league' thing. He scored them three levels below the National League. Not everyone is Jamie Vardy or even Adam Marriott.

He proved he could score more goals than anyone else at that point at that level. If I was the best plumber in Stevenage or the best surgeon at Lister Hospital - it proves that at least I can do the job I’m asked and should probably be given a chance on a higher platform.
