Apparently only closed temporarily while it's refurbished and they find a new landlord.

Wonder if Chris Day would be interested?

Wifey's hairdresser ( maybe not a great source) says the new town one plus old post office behind it have closed for good.Says they were due to leave as part of rengeneration as more flats earkmarked for site so have just brought it forward.
Would have thought Wethers at least may look for a new site. Perhaps what was McDonalds on the corner ?
Yes I realise it was not the best place in the world but a t least I could drown there whilst waiting for the normal delayed trains.

I'm surprised they can turn a profit, leaving all the sauce sachets where anyone can just walk in and take the lot.

Stonegate Pubs are my preferred choice. Good menu, usually have sports on TV.

I don't care what beer they serve.

Yes tear all the Wetherspoons down. Make banners. Then stay at home on one knee feeling virtuous guilt and shame for having ever been to one or been related to someone that frequented them.

That’s progress and makes total sense. Here’s to the future of freedom, harmony and equality!

Regardless of peoples views on them what should happen is the Government look to have a proper look at business rates/alcohol tax etc to see if anything can be done to help the local pubs compete. At moment human nature dictates a lot of people would prefer to pay £2 per pint rather than on average double elsewhere. In London it's even worse.

There's plenty of available space for new shops/restaurants under the new flats in thee New Town.

It's actually slowly but surely beginning to look rather modern.

When Daisy was there? No but with him playing FT still they didn't have the time to take it on.

Needs to be run more like The Fisherman is, has the space and grounds to be successful.

The last ones have ruined inside and out, is in a right state.

It always was a very good pub back in the mid 70's when it was a walk along Meadway across the fields from the Old Town, you queued up at the front door for beer served straight from the cask, and families, bikers and Morris Men congregated outside (there was very little room inside in the days before the Billet was extended. Oh, happy bygone days!
