Does anyone know that if the EFL lose their appeal against the points deduction for Macclesfield then will Stevenage take legal action if it doesn’t find in their favour?

They'll come to a decision on Wednesday, draft the judgement Thursday and get it agreed by the EFL lawyers.

And let Macclesfield know then post it sometime Friday.

We'll find out on Twitter at the same time as Wallace.

Macclesfield will anounce that they have lied in court, wasted court time, still owe the tax-man money and their players and staff money from last season, have not paid there £ 20,0000 to the EFL and only have about 8 players signed on.
have a owner or chairman who resigned the other week but still is the majority share holder of the club, and is waiting to sell the club to any idiot as he has no intrest in Macclesfield f.c or there supporters.

then in September go to court for the 12th time to be wound up.

The problem we have is we voted to end the season on a PPG system. So I don’t think anything would come of it.

Only thing that I can see which could be a big positive for us tomorrow is if the panel take into consideration the longevity between us and Macclesfield. They might see the hassle they’ll get from Macclesfield in the next year with finances and the awful position their in at the moment. We’re a well run club with decent finances, currently building a team and signing new players, hopefully that could sway the decision.

In my opinion they shouldn't take anything like that into account, that's where they went wrong in the first place. It should be simply whether the punishment has been applied proportionately and consistently (Which all evidence suggests it hasn't). The effect of that punishment is entirely irrelevant.

Good man, thanks.

As that post said, of 38 relegations back to 99, 19 have gone back up. Not all at the first attempt, but at some point. I'd say given the financial dismay of many teams, I rate our chances next season higher than usual.

I think we'll be fine.

Legal action for what?

The only thing we could possibly take legal action on is the way the season was ended by PPG, but that was voted on by a majority so doubt there are any grounds for any legal action.

So to answer the question... No chance.

Technically we were relegated (if that is the final result) because the season was abandoned due to a “global virus” BS etc.

That should, in most things, make the season null and void. It is unfair to relegate someone from League to non League (or any situation) when, with games left to play should the remaining fixtures not have been affected by this, we had every chance to score the points required to stay up legitimately.

So yeah I feel the EFL should be questioned, made to cover the costs of what is effectively a sacking of Stevenage from the league due to their own decisions and approach to the “covid” scenario.

There is no argument to say we were piss poor and probably wouldn’t have done enough in those last fixtures. Because it never actually took place.

What should have happened was either the PL approach to fulfil the remaining games without any crowds. Or to null and void the whole season and have no champions, promotions or relegations.

Because the PL carried on and settled champions and European places - that’s fine. But because the EFL didn’t (for all their divisions) they should have agreed to have no relegations from the PL. Anything they would have been fighting for or to avoid would be monetary - which is still some kind of incentive.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment in terms of the fairness of getting relegated when a league has been cancelled before the end of the season, I’m not so sure I agree with the insinuation that the “global virus” is a confection. You’ll be saying that it’s all down to 5G next, that it’s your constitutional right to breathe directly into somebody else’s nasal cavities in a shop, and that ALM.

The BS / confusion / indecision clearly surrounds the rules, regs, laws, etc.

e.g. Wear a mask in a post office but don’t wear a mask in a takeaway
e.g. Ok for the PL to play out but not for the lower leagues

I would just add that I didn’t suggest or begin to suggest anything about 5G having or not having any link to the virus itself. And I am always amazed at how certain, possibly defensive and righteous some people get about dismissing any question of things like that. It’s a bit like totally denying the existence of god (as if anyone really knows anything for sure). Fine believe what you want to but don’t suggest you know any better than anyone else. As complete simpletons on this planet with only access to published material and people’s views to gather - neither you nor I would have any absolute certainty of anything. Opinions yes.

It is not opinion to say 5G isn't linked to the virus. It isn't. People are allowed to have the opinion that the sun rises in the north but it still doesn't and it is equally allowed to point to the rising sun and say 'Can you not see that? Well, just look. Please, just turn your head slightly and look. I'm begging you.'

The old saying, you aren't entitled to an opinion, you're entitled to an informed opinion.

Like saying ready salted is better than salt and vinegar having never tasted either. Your opinion isn't valid until you've informed yourself as to what both taste like.

Edit: to take that example further, you dont necessarily have to taste them to have an informed opinion, you could base your opinion on a study that 75% of people prefer ready salted so you are happy to base your opinion on that study.

What's everyone's favourite crisp flavour?

Discos. Used to get them from Londis at the Glebe when I was at Nobel. Very good nostalgic crisp.

Some of my favourite school memories are about food from the glebe. 😂 Sausage rolls from the bakery, they used to put them in the microwave to make them go a bit soggy. The excitement when Time Square Pizza opened and you could buy a slice of meat feast at lunch. 10 pack of twix for a £1 in Londis. Occasionally fish and chips from Tony Chow's dad. The cafe.

The crisp selection in the Glebe Londis is the stuff of my childhood memories. Tangy Tom for 10p, Fish n Chips, Rib n Sauce Nik Naks. Roysters T Bone Steak if you were feeling frisky. Graduated to McCain Micro Pizzas and Pot Noodles as a teenager.

Walkers are bastards for stop doing Barbecue and the Lamb & Mint Sensations.

I haven’t suggested anything about 5G let me make that clear. Never raised it either.

But basically you are telling me that by using your eyes and natural senses, a compass or similar such tools - you can clearly make judgements about 5G and other influences of radiation, etc.?

That’s impressive.

It's not my judgement, it's a load of people who found out things and wrote it all down. I trusted their judgement on things like not getting tuberculosis, if I cook chicken I won't get the squits and if I turn the key in my car it'll go. I don't see any reason to go against them on this one particular thing.

That’s cool. Who am I to tell you vehemently otherwise, suggest you are loony tunes or criticise your opinion or path to it?

And that’s the point.

Let’s not forget that I wrote about how the EFL logically could have a strong case against it for the treatment of the season and the future of our club. That it was a decision they took that denied us the chance to remain a league club. I said “global virus BS” (and didn’t suggest it meant I denied the existence of a virus or that I felt it was made by goblins or 5G or Russia or a Norse god or the CIA or the Illuminati etc etc) in one sentence and that is what people including yourself have jumped on. It’s pretty ridiculous.

I knew it would seem like I was jumping down your throat. I just worry about the prevailing 'My opinion is as good as anyone's' views I see online. It works fine for football or politics, but there are other things where I think wisdom is accepting the expert view, and you have to decide where that applies. I wanted to get that on record rather than to have a go.

The government and EFL are inconsistent for the same reason, money. The safest thing to do is shut everything, but they haven't worked out how to do that without destroying livelihoods so what we get is a bodge job in the hope something comes along. Which means some people get screwed, like theatres and the Boro.

I certainly wasn’t stupid enough to plan opening up a political debate on here. Or any platform. It’s futile anyway.

I do question everything and I don’t feel it’s wrong to have that attitude. But there is no point in me (or anyone, I believe) dragging out arguments that can’t ever be won. Yes take the official experts’ views, stats and recommendations - but never lose a sense of common sense, logic and alternatives. I’m not on any soap box and I don’t even dream of changing anybody else’s way of thinking.

None of it makes a difference so it’s just hot air. That’s why I also find it funny when people want to ram home the already agreed and affirmed view of the government or the media. No one with an opposing or questioning view is winning anyway!!!

As for Boro - yes they are the unlucky ones, like theatres and many businesses etc. But being a sport based on points and league places - it’s still pretty common sense and fair to say that a season that is ended abruptly (due to any circumstances) that was still not mathematically decided - it should be null and void and restarted the following season afresh.

Sad for those leading/up for promotion and lucky for those in relegation spots. But it has less negative impact to keep things as they were than to force teams down a division or even cancel their league status. That is completely sane to me.

Whilst I don't think it's fair for a side to be relegated/denied promotion etc on a points per game formula, we voted to end the season on a PPG basis. Now, because Macclesfield weren't deducted the required number of points to save us, we have a problem with ending the season in that manor?

Lets face it, the club voted to end the season on a PPG basis for financial reasons and hoped/expected we'd be saved by "no relegation" being voted through or by Macclesfield being deducted enough points to see them go down instead.

I think we'll accept the outcome of this coming appeal, I don't see how we can challenge it as the charge against Macclesfield has nothing to do with us. If we were to take action against the EFL I'm not sure how we'd win, everything was voted on and agreed on by the member clubs (including us), the EFL charged Macclesfield and two independent panels will have decided their fate.

I'm not sure we actually voted for PPG finish. (I would assume not, but the majority did). We put an amendment forward for no relegation but that was voted against.

I'm not 100% certain but I think we did, I think the vote was 23-1 in favour with the one being Forest Green.

I thought that was the initial vote to end the season, before it had been decided in how the outcomes would be decided.

There was the initial League Two conference call in May, the vote was 24-0 to end the season and 20-4 for there to be no relegation. These needed to be passed by the remainder of the EFL member clubs including the sides in the Championship and League One.

The EFL didn't like the no relegation proposal and put forward a framework that included promotion and relegation which the majority of the 71 EFL clubs voted in favour of. It was at this point the individual club proposals were put forward (all 7, including our own, were rejected).

League Two then had a vote whether to end the season on PPG or play on, and 23 of the 24 League Two sides voted to end the season on a PPG basis. The only club that voted to play on were Forest Green - confirmed by Dale Vince via PA and twitter (https://www.teamtalk.com/news/league-two-season-officially-over-as-one-club-votes-against-the-rest)
