Not Worried Just Yet!

I’m not worried yet all!

Thing is, we’ve had to change so much at the football club, the team, the culture, so many things that needed changing in order for us to move on from a diabolical pit hole of a season.

This season is the start of a project, a process, a new era at the football club which will hopefully end up in seeing Boro back up the top. But as with nearly every new project in football, IT TAKES TIME. I like what I’ve seen from this team. The players believe they can go into every game and win (“winning habit”) regardless of what competition we’re playing in and we have picked up some good results in 6 games, also including some of the cup matches. When we have lost this season, even throughout the pre season we’ve only lost by one goal! It’s not like we’re losing games 2 or 3-0! When we’ve played the teams below us we have got a result, which is positive. Don’t forget we’ve had to play including tomorrow night, 4 of the teams that will be competing for promotion at the end of the season! The start was always going to be tough!

My only debate, would be surrounding the formation. I would like to see some partnerships formed with our strikers! I think it would benefit the long list of strikers we have signed this season and I think we would start to score goals! 4-3-3 is fine, but at the minute it’s not working. Very important next 2 games, back at home. Home form is so important if we are going to stay up this season. A good performance tomorrow night regardless of the result I’d be happy with, Saturday is a game I’d like to think we’d win and would be disappointed if we didn’t.

But I’ll think we’ll be fine, we’re not the worst team in the league, I put many others before us in that category, get to safety and it’s been a super season for us! Up the Boro!

I'm not good at formations, but didn't we start at least the last game 3-4-3, and only switched yo 4 at the back when Scott went off?

If you start a post by saying you're not worried twice, you're probably worried.

I’m not worried about Matt being worried even though he says he isn’t worried. I’m not worried about it.

I think there's something wrong with the software algorithm. It's repeated a post from this time last year.

Out of interest Matt who are your preferred striking partners?

Difficult one as we have so many strikers. But if Inih is going to start, I think he’d benefit playing with a partner up there. Could be anyone really? Could play List with him, Aitchison, Newts, Oteh, Marsh etc. See which partnership is the best and try them together. Can’t hurt to give it ago.

If he has a partner that means a change of formation though.

With 3 up front he should have had 2 partners every game already

I wasn't worried until we signed too many strikers.

Now it's like last season where you have too many players (at least in that position). Should have 4 strikers fighting for 2 or 3 places. And they be played over a period of time to get some form, fitness and gel.

Hopefully we will stick with the same ones and the others will be shipped off somewhere. I don't want to see a different front line every game.

I've not even seen Aitchison or Oteh so can't comment on them.

At least the back is pretty much certain with a few options. And they look relatively solid.

Agree and with that many coming in over the last few weeks its affected the squad.

We looked a threat at the start of the season, scored goals but that's dried up with to many changes and now we're back to a team gelling again. Losing by the odd goal is still losing (mentality)

If we're sticking to three up top then you can make the case for as many as six forwards, but we somehow have more than that.

If Forest Green and Salford are good teams in this year's division then I'm not unduly worried. If they turn out to be midtable fodder then we're in trouble on the evidence of our performances against them.
