Gutted for Revs. I really do believe he’s been hung out to dry by the chairman. Appointed with no previous experience, with a restricted budget, after such an appalling season in last season. A big change is needed at the football club. Not just on the pitch, people higher up need a long hard look at themselves on some of the footballing decisions we’ve had to see over the years. At the start of the season Wallace said we’d learnt our lessons from last season, what were they exactly?

Overall, I actually think we have the capability to stay up. But with the right set up in charge, will Phil prove us wrong and finally appoint the right candidate, or another cheap option? Over to you Phil..

The club off the field in terms of the new stand how it is run is superb, but there is something wrong on the football side with recruitment/management when we have two seasons of this shambles and prior to that it wasn’t great. Whatever it is I hope they find a solution quick, clearly the whole management structure is rotten when you get this dross on the pitch and at coaching and recruitment level.

Is the new stand great? Roof isn’t any good and the facilities during game are pretty small by all accounts.

The new stand looks nice but it has always been a bit of a putting the cart before the horse exercise for me. We weren’t filling the ground anyway.

Matt, I like the sentiment but unfortunately AR is to blame, he knew this when he took over and his decisions are questionable.

Today he bought in two youngsters in the midfield, based on what? A relatively good game midweek vs Northampton reserves?

We pumped the ball forwards to a short striker against a couple of giant centre backs and had little other ideas. Pett, Carter and Read all seemed to be out of position.

Bringing Newton on was a good call, I would argue he should have started. We looked at our best then. He then ruined the momentum and any set up by bringing Marsh and List on. From then onwards we looked clueless.

This is firmly with him. I do believe these players, if played in the right positions and with the right direction are good enough.

Any person with drive to succeed in their career would always take the job. But it’s the employer’s job to appoint someone appropriate for the role. Simple.

That's bollocks. So many ex players would jump at the chance to have a crack at league management.
If he's not up to it that's his problem. It was a stupid appointment in the first place, as many of us said at the time.
But Revs is no victim.

No. He could have said he wasn’t ready and needed to gain more experience before becoming a manager. He took the job he was offered. Nobody has hung him out to dry. There’s a saying, fools rush in.

Edit: “ But it’s the employer’s job to appoint someone appropriate for the role.” Agree with this part though.

Look at it from Revs point of view. First professional managerial role, a massive step for himself and his career. Any person looking for their big break in their industry would say yes. It’s life changing. But it’s Phil’s job to acknowledge the inexperience Revs has. To possibly keep Revs in the set up, watch and learn from a manager and one day be able to fit into those shoes.

Coming into this season we needed an experience set up to be able to rebuild the team after such an awful year on the pitch. To put faith into an inexperienced manager, with hardly no budget is criminal. We all saw what happened Teddy. We didn’t even make sure an experienced coach at this level is next to him. Mark’s done big things in the game but not at this level.

Has Mark done big things? Got England Women to the Semi-Final of the World Cup... pretty decent achievement. But what else? I'd also argue women's football in England was on the rise and we've seen continued success since, so not sure how much of that was his doing. He made what appeared to be an inspired decision in the Quarter Final to play Jill Scott, who at the time was a defensive midfielder, as a Number 10 against Canada to close down their deep-lying playmaker, Kaylyn Kyle. It worked perfectly. Although having seen his contributions since, that was either a one-off fluke, or completely unintentional.

I understand why Revs would have taken the job but he didn’t have a gun to his head. Nobody has hung him out to dry. If he felt he wasn’t ready he should have had the backbone to say so.

If Revs is sacked he needs to leave the club, as do Lawrence and Sampson. Keeping people around from unsuccessful regimes isn’t helping anyone.

Mark Sampson hasn’t done big things in the game. He took the England women’s team to the World Cup semi finals once. That is completely irrelevant when it comes to coaching in League Two.

How many managers get a virtual clean slate and a squad of shiny new toys after years, let alone two games? A good manager would dream of the opportunity Revs has had.
