My thoughts:

Norris isn't an upgrade on Newton, IMO. His distribution is better, but he's less mobile and seems to provide a similar amount of output.

Where is Lines?

Why has Carter been moved back into midfield?

Why is Marsh back in the team?

Marshall is solid. Didnt really notice Cuthbert was missing.

Why have we resorted to long balls into the channels again? We signed Norris so we could ditch what was working well and resort to what hasn't worked all season. Bizarre.

I'll take a point, given how much they destroyed us first time round, but that was fucking tedious.

Well he's played 3 games now and I'm not entirely sure he's had as much as a shot on goal, the penalty aside.

I'm not saying Norris is shit, by any means.

As much as Newton's distribution and decision making was poor, his defensive work and his ability to win headers was excellent. I saw a lot of stuff from Newton that aggravated me, but I also saw a lot that impressed me.

With Norris, you cut out a lot of the mistakes and poor possession play. His distribution is definitely better, but I dont think he wins as many headers and he isn't as fast as Newton so isn't as good at rushing opponents.

I'm not saying Norris is worse, I just don't think he is a substantial upgrade. I think they are much of a muchness, but of course, time will tell.

P.S. I'm prepared to be wrong about this. It doesn't help that we have resorted to the crap long ball again so Norris could be suffering from our regression in play. He also needs more time in the team before making a full assessment. Newton has had a decent amount of time and not produced the goods, so I'm glad we are trying something else, but I'm just saying I'm not overly impressed.

Agree with most of that.

I think Norris is way better than Newton.

We need Carter, Aitchison or Pett to feed the strikers from a more central position, Assume Pett has a knock. Carter is wasted wide. Either stick him up top or in behind the strikers.

Marsh isn't up to it.

Marshall is good enough.

Coker is a weak link. Hutton should replace him IMO, or if we insist on playing him, stick Hutton and Luther together down the right so that one can be a winger.

Or sign a winger.

or if we can't find one, tell List he's playing on the wing and he's got to hug the touchlline, and if he doesn't perform he can warm the bench.

I think you and Chuds are in agreement on that point, and probably also in the minority.

I have a pathological dislike of Coker, he's my scapegoat. Slow, turns like a tanker and positionally inept. Maybe I'm blinkered now because of it.
I'm not saying Hutton is the ideal fullback solution, but he offers more than Coker..

Wingers are all we need.

I'm happy enough with Luther and Hutton with Coker, and Fernades recalled if necessary, as backup

Norris, Stevens, Aitchison and Carter can all score goals with right service.

I think the important part about wingers is that even if they aren't used to get crosses into the box, they are useful for stretching the play and pulling defenses out of position.

Anyone who has played in a game trying to park the bus in front of a team who switches the play a lot will tell you that it's exhausting.

Coker gets absolutely burned by pushing up for a ball he had no chance of getting, turns and runs in slow motion. Get clattered by Marshall tidying up the mess then has the cheek to be pissed with Marshall.

Maybe don't be usless and slow and Marshall won't need to make tackles for you?

Also, why isn't Carter playing up front? We struggle to score all season, he goes up front and scores goals, and we move him back to the wing (where he is borderline terrible). Madness.
