According to our abridged statement we lost £183, 000 in FY 2019/20.

Is that good? I'd have expected more.

We have assets values at & 3.4m (presumably that's Bragbury and Rookies? As surely we don't cash value our star players as assets?)

Where exactly does it say that!?

In the absence of a P & L, a balance sheet and notes will not detail gross, operating or net profit (losses)

Not saying your wrong but can’t see it

I'm not an accountant. I lifted the figure from the Price of Football Podcast Twitter run by Professor Kieran Maguire, who is a football finance guru.

I assumed if you knew what you were looking at it'd jump out at you.

Sev or Chuds are the maths and account geeks on here.

Difference between the retained earnings figure on the balance sheet for 2019 and 2020 is usually the accounting profit for the year.

Accounting profit does however include figures such as depreciation and amortisation which are not exactly "real" (accounting concepts). Without a P&L it's hard to draw many conclusions.

Note 5 shows depreciation of £112,000 so if you ignored that we would basically be breaking even.

That also shows we had over £1.7m worth of assets additions in the year - north stand presumably? (Nothing to do with profit, just noticed it as interesting)

I also see we allotted 12420 new shares (the ones sold to fans for £25 each) so that raised £310,000.

Did being the most played team on FIFA count for nothing? Did we fail to buy shares in Cheetos (or whatver you have there) to help fuel our eSports team?

Not had a look at yet but think in professional sport players " contract values" are included on balance sheet as an asset (untangible) .The wages would go through the Profit/loss account though.
Obviously our operating loss to May 21 will be worse than this but think we do not have much histoical debt unlike many other clubs so may be in better position to survive at least.

For me it does exactly what it is intended to do, build a bit of anticipation and make me feel connected with what's going on before I sit and watch a tablet in a room alone for two hours.

Ahem. Given the sheer volume of drinks I’m going to owe Chuds and his crew after staying up last season and the recent performance this, I think it’s safe to say the club’s financial future will be assured for many more seasons to come!

[inserts smiley face and bemused shrug of shoulders here!]
