Contract situation

By Balders (BALDOCKBORO)24/3 13:35Wed Mar 24 13:35:02 2021

Does anyone know who is out of contract in the summer?

Who we have a rolling year option on?

We appear to have a core of players good enough to do well next season with the right management and coaching.

Inevitably there will be interest in a few, who will want to maximise their income and move up a level.

I really don't want a decimated squad and another rebuild, be nice to retain 80% of the decent players.

Surely when Pett came in we singed him for more than 6 months?

Think only one left TVC in contract to poss 22.Think all this seasons new signings were on whole undisclosed lengths but I suspect they were 1 yr only, perhaps with options attached .

Was thinking about the players I think will leave in the summer and that is,

LJW
Marshall
Iontton
Effiong
Akinwande
Dinanga
Vincelot
Newton

Would try to sign Read on loan again if this was an option.

Not sure about Aitchison as he doesn't seem to have been given enough chances, so difficult to judge by.

Matty Stevens, same reason as Aitchison.

Keep the rest of the team and add a few new players.

Stevens has done nothing bar Grimsby. He can go.

Aitchison should be getting more stick, lots of hype when he came. Looks OK but hasn’t really made a significant contribution. Not as good as Pett.

Might get Cummins again on loan, but probably a long shot. Stockdale would make good sense all round.

If he's happy, Chelsea are happy with the coaching and development,, and he's kept relatively busy, I don't see why they wouldn't give him a bit longer.

He ain't getting near their first team for the foreseeable.

Though I guess they may want a team that plays it out from the back more to improve his feet and decision making. (Not that I think it's bad for L2)

I don't know the stats, but we definitely play the ball out from the back more often than we have done previously.

Some of our football (especially at home) has been silky!

Why do you think LJW will leave? Cos he'll get a better offer?

I'd be very surprised if we let LJW leave for free, unless he rejects a new contract of course, then we won't have a choice.

This is my take on it. He has his flaws, but in absolutely no way should we be letting him walk without at least offering him a contract.

Some people thought Sam Sodje, DJ Campbell and Lucas Akins were shit. Yet they all played regularly in the Championship not that long after us (ie. Not so long that they could have got drastically better).

Some people thought Errol Telemaque and Ben Kennedy were wonderkids destined for superstardom.

It's a funny old game.
