Subs Johnson, Vincelot, Cuthbert, Osborne, Hutton, Martin, Stevens.

This is what I've been saying all season - the teams at the top aren't streets ahead of everyone else. There's no reason why we should have been going into games playing like we were playing Man Utd in the cup. We dont really do that anymore, and our results have been better as a result.

I'm not. Can't be arsed watching any more games this season since they're all rubber matches.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Norris having one good game in every 5 doesn't make him a good player. It isnt the sort of quality we need if we are going to challenge at the top of the table.

EDIT: Just to be clear, a large part of why I don't like him is because I think he seems like a total cock. And not in a good way where he's a nuisance for the opposition, but in a way where he would be detrimental to the morale of his team mates. Obviously I don't know what he's like off the pitch, but on it that's how it comes across to me.

If Newton was scoring 1/5, I wouldn't have an issue, because at least he visibly tries every game. He is the sort of player who could lead the team by example, and is the sort of player you can get behind. I just don't like Norris. Whether that's irrational or not is irrelevant. He just isn't the sort of player I want to root for.

Over his career he has scored 76 goals in 321 games. So 23.7%.

This season he has scored 9 goals in 34. So 26.5%.

For us he has scored 5 goals in 18. So 27.8%.

So, in fairness, it's nearer 1 in 4 than 1 in 5.

I think my point still stands. 1/4 is hardly prolific.

I tend to agree that I would have gone for Kane or Sterling from the long list of top strikers itching to join a League Two bottom three side in January, but I guess there is a chance neither would have been available...

Smell the coffee. All the signings we made then have played a major part in our remarkable improvement.
Alfie, the co-commentator today, made a lot of intelligent comments. That was one of them.

The point that we were bottom 3 when we signed him is a fair one. We likely didn't have any better options at the time.

But now we're not bottom 3 anymore, we need to be trying to find players who are better than Norris, to take us to the next level. Either in attitude, in ability, or preferably both. Obviously I realise those players don't grow on trees, but that doesn't mean we should just settle for average and shouldn't still strive for improvement.

Like I say, his ability isn't really my biggest issue. He is fine as a player. It's just the way he comes across. He just isn't the sort of player I enjoy having in the team I support. If he scores 30 goals next season, then great. I'd be pleased because it would likely propell us into a promotion spot. But I still wouldn't like him. I'd just find it easier to tolerate him.

It's like Grealish. He's clearly very talented, but he just seems like a total tosser, so it makes it really difficult to cheer for him. If he scores the World Cup winning goal for England then obviously I'd be pleased, but it wouldn't make me like him and enjoy cheering for him. Same with Wayne Rooney. I just find it hard to cheer for players that seem like twats.

I think you read too much into his perceived body language. I suspect his team mates simply take the piss rather than get annoyed...certainly none of his colleagues, past or present, have done a Morais on him.
I see him, along with James-Wildin, Coker and Prosser (all of whom you would have had taken out and shot at certain points this season), being part of a squad capable of challenging for promotion next season.

But it is never just a case of how good a particular player is; how much of the budget they eat up is part of the equation.

Another good example of a player who is quality but seems like a total cock. Not to get into politics cos I know that isn't allowed on here, but didn't he and some other tosser on the England team break lockdown rules, and get sent home, all to smash some Swedish bird? Yeah, I'll pass on cheering for him, too.

I disagree. He is. He scores and assists goals fairly regularly. Something we’ve been missing.

The prolific striker next to him is the thing we’re still missing.

For me,that was Norris best game this season
I have to disagree about his first touch
The times decent ball goes into him and he loses possession
Before yesterday he didn't have one
His second touch is generally a tackle where its bounced off him.
BUT, i do believe if he worked on that, then he would be a much better number 9

Do we not think List is capable of that? He's scored 8 goals this season, despite spending the majority of the season on the wing. I mean, he might not be a 25 goal striker, but I'm pretty confident he could easily get 15, maybe 20.

It sounds like stating the blindingly obvious, but strikers score more goals when the team as a whole is more prolific. Over the season our biggest weakness has been a failure to create enough chances.
Yesterday we got the ball forward much more quickly, which I think suits the players we've got. List's pace was a constant threat, Norris held the ball up really well and midfield won most of the second ball. We weren't just better than Cambridge, we were two or three goals better in terms of performance.
It is hard to single out individuals when the team as a whole was so good, but Jack Smith is going to be one hell of a player.

I was going to say surely we give List that opportunity if he stays. He should go into next season with more confidence than he went into last season and has shown he knows where the goal is. I'd be hoping if he played a full season and up front then 20 goals would be his aim.

It's 7.6 with Norris and 7.9 with Newton.
This is ratio of a percentage. Not actually goals per average games played.

Yes. It's the stats pulled from the games. Number rating 1-10 on minutes played, then assists plus goals are given a percentage to get the final tally.

I can't work out if I'm being dumb, you're trolling me, or this is just a complicated stat that isn't being explained well.

I was just curious to know List's goals/game when playing up front with Norris vs up front with Newton. I'm not sure what you're on about with rating 1-10 and assists/goals being given a percentage.

Before the season started you accused me of 'astonishing negativity' for not being impressed with our early signings and pointing out they had an average rate of 1 in 5.

I agree, 1 in 4 isn't exactly Haaland, but it's an interesting hill to die on based on your previous position.

You make a fair point. But his goalscoring alone isn't what bothers me. What bothers me is his goalscoring return coupled with the fact that he acts like Ronaldo does when it doesn't go his way. It's cringeworthy and makes it really hard to get behind him.

If he either had a decent goal return or didn't come across like a cock, then I probably wouldn't mention him as much. Morison came across like a bit of a dick too, but at least he made it easy to look past it cos he was actually decent.

I’ve not seen anyone else mention Norris in this way. Which is strange because our fans hate a bad attitude.

Probably because I came out early and said I didn't think he was an upgrade over Newton. Everyone disagreed. Then I kept repeating it to the point where it got annoying. Now everyone is more intent on trying to claim I'm wrong than paying any attention to what he is doing.

Plus, I don't think the sort of behaviour I've witnessed and don't like comes out when either the team is winning, or Norris is in form. It's when we are losing and/or he isn't scoring/getting good service that it comes to light. People have short memories.

Of course, it's possible that I'm wrong. But I'm pretty confident I'm not. Didn't it come out recently that someone (Revs or Wilkins?) had to speak to Norris about his behaviour? Or have I imagined that?

I've not heard anything about his behaviour, could have missed soemthing though.

But it's that sort of potentially baseless accusation that them makes other people think he does, or the fact we are discussing it but not say List's attitude who we equally have no actually idea about.

All I've seen from him on the pitch is frustration when something doesn't come off. I don't know if that is at himself or others. That suggests to me he has an attitude of wanting to succeed and do well for the team.

Did the players all celebrate with him today, or just ignore him? That would indicate if he was a problem.

I suspect he is your typical striker who has a passion to score goals.

So his attitude is a co.pletely irrelevant point for me unless I meet him and see for myself.

He is a good option to have in the squad, I wouldn't break the bank to keep him, but as say one of 4 strikers we can afford, I'd be happy to have him.

Remember when Morison scored goals for fun but didn't smile enough for a lot of the fan base to like him?

I seem to recall in either the Mansfield or Cheltenham commentary, Charlie Carter said that he’s not like that in training or away from the pitch.....said he’s a great team person.

Attitude is more important than ability, unless the ability is at a high standard, then we don't mind the attitude too much :)
