Bristol Rovers forum seem unsurprised that they've let him go, but cautious that it may come back to bite them. By all accounts he is hard working, good at pick pocketing defenders, and a good finisher. He sounds like a better version of that guy we signed from Bromsgrove (forgotten his name already).

31 appearances last season, and only 3 goals. But by all accounts he had a good start, then struggled with injuries. Was out of favour with Barton, and most of those 31 appearances came off the bench, playing on the wing. So I'm not sure the stats tell the whole story.

Wilkins worked with him at Palace, as mentioned elsewhere, so probably has a reasonable knowledge of his ability.

Could go either way, this one, but plenty of potential to be good.

4 starts, 4 goals I heard.

Injuries hampered him.

Did he not score 4 goals in games he started?

I'm not saying he only started 4 games and those were the ones he scored in, I'm suggesting he scored 4 goals and none were as a sub. (One was FA Cup)

Oh I see!

It very much read like you were suggesting he only started four games, scored in each of them, then only played as a sub in the other games because of injury.

Cowley.

I commented on this signing in WhatsApp that it strikes me as the same as we did last summer in signing young strikers with potential with the hope it works, but instead of getting them from Conf or lower as we did last year we have got one with a bit of FL experience already as we know we are in L2 with L1 aspirations rather than potentially being in the Conf, so can plan better and aim/spend higher.

Another back-up striker needed along with a keeper, RB and winger and we are looking good.

That's the one.

I'm worried that we are going to shove this lad, or List, onto the wing. Hopefully Daly will be a backup striker (and challenge List & Norris for a starting spot).

I would argue we could do with at least 2 wingers coming in - one for each side, plus possibly a backup. I don't think Carter is good enough out wide, and I think Osborne would be far more influential through the middle, same with Read. I'd be happy with Carter being used out wide as cover, but I'd really prefer we signed actual wingers as our starters.

As for right back, hopefully LJW re-signs, but even if he does, we could still benefit from a backup full back. Ideally someone versatile like Hutton who can play both sides. Unless we are planning on giving more game time to Fernandez (although I really don't think he looks comfortable at left back).

I wouldn't be opposed to us re-signing Bastien. He looked good in the few games he played. I guess it depends on what other options are available.

Let’s hope the FA get the registrations mixed up so we’re left with Arthur ‘I could be so good for you’ Daly and James Reid

I suspect (and hope) that Wilkins knows quite a lot that you don't since he worked with Daly At Crystal Palace.

:-)

“I am really looking forward to it”, Daly said upon signing. “Speaking to Alex Revell, Dean Wilkins and Leon Hunter it is a great place for me to be at this stage in my career. I want to play games, score goals and make the fans happy. My relationship with Dean Wilkins went really well when I was at Crystal Palace, we are very similar minded in terms of football and how he wants to play.
