Bit behind the times, But the National League trophy

Shows how much attention I pay to the National League, since we gained promotion 11 years ago.
I didn't realise, since 2015, they've been presented with the new trophy, and i for one do not like the look of that trophy. The Noel Kelly, was one that had significance. The top of the pyramid, gaining the right to play in the League.

This one is just another meanless looking one in my opinion.

The 'National League' is a bit naff as a name too.

The four divisions about them are national. It's the Conference for I...

That being said its naff to call our league Div 2 when we all know it's really Div 4.

The system is broken. Premier League is synonymous with League One. The Championship is for teams who are in the upper end of average out of the 92 League clubs, there's nothing Champions about them.
In fact, the Champions League isn't a Champions League. It's a Champion's (and a few other clubs who aren't Champions) League.
League One could just as easily be called Premier League.
That League Two could be called Premier League Two is an oxymoron.

We need a proper system with easier, and more accurate names like Divisions One to Four. The Champions League could then be something like the European Cup. We could have a second European competition, maybe something for teams who win the FA Cup, like a Cup Winner's Cup?

Just to confuse things even more, there's a new European competition next season for the cup winners, called the conference league. But because our cup winners qualified for a higher Euro competition the place went to 7th place

It would seem there could be an easy fix here. If UEFA decide there should be a 3rd European trophy to compete for to address these kinds of things, they could just called it something like UEFA Cup?

This means we'd have Divisions 1-4 domestically. The Champions go to the European Cup. A few others, determined by domestic success, go to the UEFA Cup, and the Cup winners go to the Cup Winner's Cup. If a team wins a double they go to the European Cup, with the finalists in the Cup going to the Cup Winner's Cup. The teams in positions 2-5 (or 6 if one of the teams is in the Cup Winner's Cup) in Division 1 go to the UEFA Cup.

True, but less radical than a European Superleague. It would allow for a larger number of clubs to compete in Europe, while also rewarding those that really are the Champions.

I don't see any downside to this at all. Surprised it's not been done before if I'm honest.

Just trying to think of ways to make things plain and easy. I'm surprised this hasn't been done already.
