Unlucky. They knew the requirements years ago.

Are the requirements wrong? Maybe. But it’s not like it’s suddenly a surprise to them.

In fairness to them, I can't imagine they'd have thought promotion was a likelihood until late in a season where they've had no fans inside. Anyway, Harrogate got a grace period – all depends on where Sutton will play their home games to start with.

if the Sutton pitch is not ready for the second division they don,t get promotion.

Agree Harrogate's was ready on time. Talking of relaying pitches we have been doing this a training ground & Lamex, although the latter may be covered by Concert contract. But this must be pricey as well.

Harrogate had to play the opening few months of fixtures at Doncaster because their pitch wasn't ready in time for the start of the season.

Granted their preparation was not as easy as Sutton's as their season finished later owing to the pandemic and they knew later that they would be promoted as they did it via the playoffs, whereas Sutton have been top (or near the top) all season so were able to have everything in place to get going as soon as the season ended.

Sutton will play a few games at Wimbledon's new ground if they aren't ready in time, but they expect they will be.

Yeah forgot that. That being said I am old enough to remember Luton. Oldham & QPR having plastic pitches ( could have been others) so attention span is waning.

Surely it's just a case of going up to Vanstone Park and getting a packet of grass seed isn't it?
