iFollow coverage

Happy Friday guys. Does anyone know if the club have made any announcements have been made regarding iFollow live coverage for this coming season? Although, I guess it will be an EFL-wide policy, rather than club specific.

I very much enjoyed sitting on my arse in the warm watching (some of) the matches on the laptop last season, but think this provision may have only been a temporary measure while crowd restrictions were in place.

Had an email from the EFL confirming that live (TV) streaming will only be available for matches outside of Saturdays at 3pm. I can't help but think they've missed a trick here, lots of people can only make a handful of matches a season and think a service such as this would help maintain interest, rather than reduce crowds. Ah well, c'est la vie.

Probably find that the rules banning screening matches on Sat at 3pm that were relaxed during covid has now resumed

They could have cashed in on away games.

Absolutely. I honestly don't think it would impact the number of matches that people attend. Last season was the most engaged I've been in years. I watched probably 80% of the games, rather than just 8-10 or so I'd be able to attend in a normal season.

Fully agree with this. It was great for me. Allowed me to watch most games at home, which took up a couple of hours, rather than most of the day on Saturday once you factor in travel.

Given that people this year might need to isolate at short notice, it would be a good option to keep it going. Especially for away fans.

It was great for long range fans like me, and really good for away games (at least in the second half of the season).
Doubt I can ever make more than half the games live.

Yeah. The matches I was given as a ST holder certainly made me open up to the idea of paying to watch away games.

I was quite happy paying a tenner a game. That's more money than they'd make out of me on a normal season. Although, it rather depends on the cut the club get of the revenue.

It's a no brainer for clubs to cancel it. You may only watch the game on your own, but what if you had 4 or 5 friends with you?

That's still 1 x £10 ifollow payment where it could be 6 x £20+ for the club.

I don't think they're substitutes for each other. I don't think people are going to watch at home alone, or with friends, on a laptop in preference to going to the match. Therefore an extra tenner is an extra tenner.

Loads would, especially as the coverage was freely available online, firesticks etc. Loads wouldn't be bothered actually going to games

Cheers. Damn. I thought it might go back to normal though. I wonder why they are leaving it so late to confirm. (thinking about it, it's probably because the EFL are incompetent).
