Back in the stands

That was bloody great. Lovely to polish it off with a win and overall an enjoyable game, but first and foremost it was just peachy to be there. See a few familiar faces, smell the grass and watch the game with my own eyes instead of a low def camera. Feel the beat of the drum, let the players know when they’ve done well or the officials when they’ve done shit. Celebrate a goal with 2,000 odd Boro fans.

Nice.

A superb day!

Just to be back in and see all of our support was a touching moment. Makes your realise how much we’ve missed it all!

First of all, fantastic to start with a win! A really tricky game that was yesterday, a typical opening day game. Seemed like in the first half we just needed to settle down and play our football, which we eventually did. A couple of passes we gave away and found it difficult to break them down, but overall we were in control.

The goal couldn’t have come at a better time! Needed it to open up the game and to spur the lads on a bit more. A great moment too! We could’ve won by more, but to see our first win of the season out was very professional!

I think the main thing for me is, we’re only going to get better and if that’s from winning our first game, hopefully that bodes well for the rest of the season. Loved it yesterday, onto the tasty one on Tuesday!

Definitely great to be back, although a distinctly bitter-sweet experience for me since the loss of East Coast Boro in April left us a man down in the stands today. That space won’t be filled in a hurry.

But what a day! Sunny, a decent atmosphere, a result… the usual fears and pant-cacking after that first half… it’s almost like we’d never been away! Nervous about the keeper but let’s hope he grows into it soon enough, and I thought Reeves was a pretty good addition with a decent work rate. Lots to look forward to. Good start, guys.

Attendance

Was a little disappointed only to get 2,500.

Was hoping to hit 3,000 given the length of time we've been without football, thought it may attract the not so regular fans.

Perhaps there are still apprehensions about Covid (understandable) or people on holidays etc. Or maybe we have just lost fans now because we aren't a small non league club anymore and have to be run as a business to survive.

East Terrace could certainly be heard from the North. A good atmosphere.

And in the West. A few of us near Deano even joined in some of the clapping. Maybe attendance didn't include to (up to) 400 freebies?

Was supposed to be in France.

Quarantining instead for another week.

Hope to make a game before I go back to France, if not will make the cold ones Nov-March.

Fingers crossed you get to go out there soon and catch a game before you go.

First one for me will be Port Vale, my brother is starting to come again which is an extra fan on match day.

I don't remember the exact figure. It was anounced in the ground as 2500 and something. If I heard right.

I had my second jab a few days ago and have felt like death. So that's my excuse, I have a note from my mum.

Haha fair enough. Hopefully you'll be back to normal tomorrow.

I thankfully had no side effects from my two jabs. Wonder why some do and some don't.
