North-stand bar

By Bragbury10622/8 14:14Sun Aug 22 14:14:56 2021

i understand with the hospitality deal and have no problem with the price if i want to spend 45.00.
but as a north-stand season ticket holder would it not be a idea to have the bar open for all supporters for a drink
at half-time (15 minutes) and would help in the increase in takings for the bar. the hospitality would still have there time before the game and after
this may help to solve the queues caused by the tea and burger bar at half-time

The bar was pitched to investors as a “SUPPORTERS SPORTS BAR” not a players family lounge or a Hospitality suite….. SUPPORTERS!!

Think they deceived a lot of people who put a lot of money into the stand and had no intention of it being for the regular fans

As a first time user at Saturdays game, here's my 2 pennies worth:

Very enjoyable experience, I'd have to say its worth the £45, pre match meal of very good quality, Cuthbert came in to have a chat about the season so far and injury etc.

Half time drinks waiting on the table and at Full time if you wanted them, not sure they can accommodate walk ins as only one entrance etc.

Only half full, they are looking at trying to do more, its all new. The players family have a separate area to the supporters.

Moving from the ET to the North was a concern, not warranted, actually didn't mind the view from the stand.

We've now booked the Swindon game and the club has gained a new regular as my brother is now coming along as he feels its good value.

Good stuff, and nice to read a review from somebody who has actually bothered to experience it rather than just moaning for the sake of it or because they cannot get a HT pint.

I was always quite impressed whenever I had hospitality in the main stand, and believe the £20 or £25 upgrade (can't recall which) for North Stand STH is decent value, albeit not something you would do too many times a season.

Incidentally, what was the food?

Agree in the private boxes in the West its very good, the shared area was £50 last time I went in there and no where near as good as 76L

We had what was on the menu, other options available if you didn't want this or for dietary reasons:

Freshly cooked Chicken Tikka Curry With rice and Naan bread

Dessert
Black Forest Gateaux

Half Time
Teas and Coffee

I honestly think a good lunch + match ticket is decent for £45. Works out about £25 for the hospitality and £20 for the match ticket. Tempted. Can you buy singles?

Yes, there was a single table being used.

Oh and much better value than when I visited the West for a bit of the same in the shared area.

As always the stand has been done on the cheap/ to save as much money possible, so as a result the facilities for the stand, even hardly full are woefully inadequate. It really is a very short sighted approach.

Bragbury .Think you are Mr L' s neighbour ? Kev here from Hitchin.
Agree with you .Walked past at 230PM on Sat and half empty.Never been in stand yet but isn't there a café at top as well ? If so, if nothing else, why not adapt this to sell a beer as well for us non prawn sandwichgers.

It is difficult with the lack of space in the entrance/under the stand, but something as simple as two separate queues for food and drink (as they used to have at the JBT tea bar, dunno if they still do) would make a huge difference to it.

And would increase their income no doubt as I am sure plenty of people would buy a HT cup of tea or something, but currently don't as they don't want to queue up for 15 minutes behind everyone else buying burgers etc.

Not sure whether it was any quicker yesterday now it wasn't cash only, but there are very simple and quick improvements to make things more welcoming.

Edit: And whilst I am at it, Stripes. After the match yesterday it looked shut. The doors were closed and it looked really dark inside as if nobody was in there. It was only because I tried the handle that I discovered it was open. And there were only about three or four tables of people in there until it closed. Lots probably thought it was shut so just walked past. Another simple and quick change with a tiny bit of thought and it would look open and be far more welcoming, so more people would go in there and make the club more money.

I looked down at HT to see if there was a queue as I fancied a cup of tea and could see it snaking around the corner so didnt bother. I think they’ll need to find a more effective way of organising it.

It was the slowest yet. A couple of our group went to get us all a half time cuppa a couple of mins before half time and didn't make it back until 5 mins after the second half had kicked off, for future matches we'll just take a flask rather than go through that. The club has just lost a few quid revenue, not much I know but but only needs a fair few people to think the same and it soon adds up.

Because of the placement of the snack bar you can't even watch the match from the queue!

Interesting.

It may well have been teething issues with the new card readers and stuff, so probably worth giving it another couple of games to see whether things speed up, but that is concerning and will definitely put people off using it, which will reduce income.

Not sure they'd be able to charge top dollar for exclusive access if they let the plebs in for free at half time.
