Observation post

Alex Macdonald starting instead of Nick Freeman is a total no no!!!
With all due respect to the Maestro, I dont see how taking off your 2 best goal outlets Jamie Ried and Jordan Roberts and bringing on Nadaine Oliver and Kane Hemmings can be regarded as ambitious. Hoofing the ball to a target man to flick/knock on or whatever is tactically inept not ambitious.
When you get a 30 yard free kick (fairly central) in the 93rd minute. Nobrainer in my book, tell your best ball striker to put his foot through the ball and do his best to test the goalie. Instead of an hopeful dink half cross which bought on "what the f__king hell was that" from the crowd.
Trying to work out how Lincoln have been on such a Starspangled run. Reality can only be there are some garbage teams in League 1 atm. This season reminds me of when Yeovil were promoted. Rather substandard.

Think a lot more goes into the team selection than just saying Freeman is better therefore Freeman starts.

Disagree regarding the set piece. Pidge wins every header from a knock into the box, it was just a poor delivery from Harvey White.

Reidy has to play the full 90, but i'm guessing Evans is still unsure with his match fitness?

Agree regarding Freeman over MacDonald. I think he's been our best player over the past 3 to 4 months.

Agree. If it went in it would have been the right decision.

Some serious Monday morning quarterbacking going on in the OP.

I'd have McDonald and Freeman both starting with L Thompson. Bin off JFC and Burns.

Agree re. the quality, I feel the league could be much stronger next year lookkng at the teams likely to be involved.

sorry, just read what you thought below.

one is reminded of george graham. at arsenal.

i have to say that we should be winning games like that, however it would appear that the competition are really no different. I just wish we would play a bit more football and not just hoof it. i think I expect too much for a small 3rd div club. if we lose reid and/or roberts at end of season we could always get a loanee like chair?

I think if we had been on a better run of form (I know we won the previous two but that was against crap sides and before that we were in a rut) and Lincoln weren't in such a great run of form, we probably would've won it, being braver to go for the win and with more confidence.

As it is, it was more a game not to lose than win. Lincoln needed to win more than we did.

A good point and a deserved one.

Roberts is probably the most unique player we have in the squad. We don't have anyone else that can play his position. Reid is in a dry spell so others need to step up.

Oliver and Hemmings were quite effective when they came on as we could then play long balls and win them, rather than not being able to keep the ball in their half. Trouble is we had taken off Reid AND Roberts so had no one to run off them.

Pedantic point: there's no degree of uniqueness - one can either be unique or not.

Agreed, when Macca and Freeman are fit they should both start.
*Macca- gives us much bite and experience
Freeman - reads the game so well, time on the ball with some exquisite passing.
*a happy, positive influence too!
