Given that much of the PL is very anti, and that's where the money, influence and power lies, I am a long way from being confident that a regulator will have the power to improve rhe game.

That's without thinking about the history of government regulators and their impact...

It's true that these regulators are suspect at best.

I guess regulation here doesn't have the same level of impact on public finances as actually fixing crumbling infrastructure or subsidising energy bills would.

It's also a potential vote-winner to floating voters who support their local football team, especially in marginal seats and/or the 'red wall', so an early win (however small) has political capital.

Very telling they had Rick Parry on the radio as EFL chairman saying it was positive. When they asked him if he'd have supported it when he was heading the Premier League, a long period of dead air followed.

Agree where you are coming from but perhaps this could be a first then .If nothing else it seems to have a clause in to stop breakaway leagues etc.
