Would he come out and speak about the situation about Steve I can only assume the move was made in the last 48hrs and what sort of timeframe we are working with to bring someone in ?
You can tell I am a new fan of the club ?

Quote from PW in The Guardian:
?It?s not what we wanted, but compensation clauses are in place for a reason and these things happen in football,? said Stevenage?s chairman, Phil Wallace. ?The approach was unexpected but handled in the right manner by both clubs and we told Steve that, after all he?d done for our club, we would not stand in his way if the compensation terms were met and he wanted to leave ? Steve will always be welcome [here] as far as I?m concerned and it?s been a privilege to work with him for the last two years.?

Interesting academic question for me is if we had managed a win on Saturday and a point at Exeter and Rotherham come knocking, how does Steve react?

He waits 2 more games.
We?re out of the play offs so he?s decided to go.
I do not believe this is a 48h think and believe it?s been on the table for weeks

I am guessing the timing might have been due to a contract clause about being allowed to speak to a club from a higher league. Steve had to activate that clause before the end of the season.
And once he says he wants out, with our season basically over, why would either party hang about. The relationship is over, might as well save a fortnight's wages.
But I also think Phil will be absolutely fucking fuming and will feel badly let down.

Agree , perhaps it might be nice if PW gives a short interview just to clear the air a little more, just a thought

PW?s made his public comments in the press release.
He?s a smart man. He probably is livid but he put the compensation clause into Evans? contract for this exact reason and is smart enough to not burn bridges lest we have cause to bring Evans back for some reason in future.

It was a very gracious statement in the circumstances. As you say, he?s a smart man.
