Poor fella...that's a tough, long road to full fitness. Assumed, out for all of next season.

Agree and best wishes to him.Not seen it announced officially though. Also of course only a side issues eats in to our budget for next season .We may need Leon to weave his magic and get us a decent left sided midfielder, perhaps on loan

Harsh and admittedly I'm not a fan of his, but I'd let go if he's not under contract.

He is in contract I think to June 25, hence my comments.

Damn that's frustrating. You are right, we don't have the budget to carry players.
It gives a 6–12 months return to sport...

Would the club have insurance for covering wages if a player is long-term injured? If indeed such coverage exists.
Either way, can't see him playing again this calendar year.

You can insure, but the premiums are huge because of the likelihood.
I've seen 15 and 20% of wages mentioned somewhere a year or so ago.

I noticed when I was reading through the Club Secretary's job description it said
"Maintain and keep up to date all Players’ private medical insurance scheme, ensuring joiners and leavers are notified in a timely fashion. Liaise with the medical department over medical examinations and billing enquiries. "
Don't know what that covers but sounds like they have private medical insurance like a lot of companies offer their employees.

Insurance to pay for operations and treatments.
(Because the Tories have ruined the NHS and JFC would be 47 before he got to the front of the queue).
Not to cover the club for the wage costs of the player.

Oh yeah, I didn't read the thread properly but obviously not for wage costs, I just meant paying for operations etc.
