Personally when Conference South/North were formed I thought it seemed a good idea, would narrow the gap between the Conference (National) and its feeder leagues, and (were we in it) would provide a more interesting fixture list with a few trips further afield than the old Isthmian Lewague catchment area which consisted almost entirely of clubs within and close to the M25.

Now when I look at the lst of clubs in the Conference South table it looks like a rather dull league full of clubs in dull towns I don't especially want to visit: Borehamwood, Farnborough, Basingstoke, Havant, Gosport, Maidenhead. Sutton, Bromley, Wealdstone and Hayes (if they ever return home) are the only Greater London clubs. The main other difference is there are a few southwest clubs like Weston-super-Mare and Bath City instead of the East Anglian clubs.

As Liam suggests, we would need a much more slick commercial and sponsorship set-up to build a competitive side even though attendances at that level are no better than what the better supported clubs in our current division get, and in some cases not much better than what the likes of Hendon and Harrow get. Much as I'd love to win the Isthmian League I'm no longer especially desperate to leave it.
