The Academy lads retained the Football Conference Youth Alliance Kent/South East London Division thanks to one of the most bizarre finishes I have ever seen to a game. Trailing 2-1 in the closing minutes after a bizarre own goal when the 'keeper let a tame shot slip out of his hands they equalised through a hotly contested penalty then went ahead in stoppage time. The title looked to have been saved but right at the death Ediz Hoca came to punch away a dangerous cross, catching an opponent in the process. Cue a a scream of protests from the Boro bench, a whistle from the ref and Dulwich facing a penalty that see that title slip away. Time seemed to drag as Eastbourne prepared for the spot kick. But after long, long consultation with his assistant the referee reversed his decision to give Dulwich a freekick. There was barely time to take it before the final whistle went. With nearest rivals Dartford Reds winning by the best of seven goals away to Fulham (Sedgehill) the result meant the between success and failure was to be a narrow one.
