Lost our unbeaten record with a host of starters missing no
Wilson, Samuels, James, McDonald, Lodge, Clunis, Ottaway all missing from the 16
Our bench consisted of Boyle, Hysi, Reid, Cookie and Chewy. $ of them must have 30mins League experience between them

To be fair on the day we lost to 2 good goals, we struggled to find rhythm in the rain and to ask Mansaray to deliver in probably a first league start was a big ask. we hustled and bustle and Neita and Vidal had decent strikes but it wasn't to be. Worringly Vidal limped off as well. We will be down to the bare bones for the game on Saturday where Billericay will be their usual strong self
I believe Clunis' injury is a potential fracture to his shoulder which will keep him out for a while

It was a game where we might have got something had one of a number of decent first half attempts on goal gone in, but ultimately I think we just had too many first choice players missing. It probably doesn't make much difference whether Echepare or Wilson is in goal (I believe the former was due to be first choice from the start fo the season before picking up an injury) but of the other six players Ian listed five would probably be in our strongest starting XI, and they're all midfielders or forwards. Samuels was concussed at Leiston last weekend, so hopefully he'll be fit by next weekend, but I'm not sure any of the others (or possibly Vidal too) will be. Four of our young academy graduates on the bench (Hysi, Reid, Boyle, Steven) had a total of 9 minutes of previous Isthmian Premier experience between them! I wouldn't have moved Pinnock from centre back now he's playing so well there, but I thought we might have got Chewy into teh midfield, or at left back with Patterson moving to midfield, just to get a bit more experience into the side at some stage even if not at the start.

Leatherhead began the stronger but were largely reduced to wayward shots from the edge of the box. Initially Hamlet had the better attempts at goal with the keeper forced into several saves at the expense of corners. The Tanners took the lead midway through the half when their dangerous playmaker in the number 10 short was given too much time and space to the right of goal to tee himself up for an exquisite angled chip shot that sailed over Echepare's head and dropped inside the far post.

We rarely looked like equalising as the second half became increasingly scrappy and niggly, not helped by some erratic and inconsistent calls by the referee. (Also not helped by teh Leatherhead captain trying to referee the game. Every bloody time the whistle blew he seemed to be at the ref's shoulder, chirping in his ear, as well as at half time as everyone walked off the field.) Our best effort came when Boyle, only a few minutes into his league debut off the bench cut in from the left, dancing past a series of challenges, and fired off a good shot that was deflected over the crossbar by a covering defender. With ten minutes to go Leatherhead put the game to bed when a long diagonal cross from the right picked out a man running in on the blind side to score with a perfectly executed diving header.

Fetcham Grove has become a bit of a bogey ground for teh Hamlet. That's five defeat in six visits duringthe Gavin Rose era, the only success being that stunning 5-1 League Cup semi final win in March 2011.

Team (4-3-3): Echepare - Kamara, Forbes(c), Pinnock, Patterson - Carew, Hibbert, Vidal - Mansaray, Hamici, Neita.
Subs: Steven (for Hibbert), Boyle (for Hamici), Hysi (for Vidal), Gonsalves, Reid (not used).
Attendance: 341
