Still not sure why we got rid... Excellent defender, often underrated!

I'm sure we'd have been happy to keep Chewy if he'd been happy to warm the bench, but he simply wasn't getting regular starts due to Ethan's superb form in the number 6 shirt. I assume it was his choice to leave for more game time.

Interestingly he didn't get a lot of game time at T&M either, he was on the bench a few games I saw including the LSC final. Probably why hes gone to Carshalton

It's odd how so many players who still seemed to be doing a good job for Hamlet when released have made no real impact elsewhere, sometimes not even at a lower level: Hamici, Daly, Walker, Deen. A lot of Hamlet fans would probably feel those players could have done better than some of those brought in to replace them, yet they don't seem to have pulled up any trees for their new clubs. The exceptions are Peter Adeniyi, who led Merstham to promotion and got rave reviews in a number of match reports I saw, and Billy Crook, who must have started almost every game for the Plod and did a tidy job in our three games against them.

Peter and Billy have always been class and would grace most teams in Ryman Prem. Saw Peter the other day and he has not signed for anyone as yet. Interestingly a player we have not seen for ages is Dean Lodge who I have been told is still at the club. Know he go a nasty facial injury in a comeback match but truly hoping he will be fit for next season as I think on his day he is a player who can highly influence a game and it would be like a new signing essentially.

Dean Lodge

The thing I like about Lodge is that he always goes looking for the ball and wants to run at defenders, and is equally comfortable on either flank. He never has a quiet game and really keeps the opposition occupied, and he's got that knack of teasing defenders into making rash challenges inside the box. We only got about half as many penalties last season as in the previous two. Gavin has stated clearly in the past that he likes to have two wing options on the bench so he can rotate with the starting pair; our attacking play relies heavily on wide players bypassing defenders and getting balls into the box from the byline, and we often lacked alternatives in this department last season.

That foul on his by the Harrow player on the opneing day of the season was a shocker. I can still hardly belive the guy only got a yellow card for it.
