Pompey Perspective

Well, it wasn't quite the walk in the park some of our supporters expected, but nor was it the home defeat to eclipse the 4-1 Leyton Orient FA Cup mauling of nearly 20 years ago that others were fearing.
No doubt at all that your team did you proud and if your No.9 had had his shooting boots on it could have been a different outcome, but then if we'd had anyone but Marquis up front for us the scoreline would likely have been higher in Pompey's favour. In fact we have your two centre backs to thank for proving once and for all that Marquis has no place on a football pitch - that guy has been mugging a living as a professional footballer for far too long. Hopefully, once your defenders have let him out of their collective pocket Cowley will see to it that he stays on the bench for us at best.
We did get lucky with the keeper handball, no doubt about that, and your No.12 was a handful when he came on later in the game.
For those of you who travelled down I hope you had a great day out and that you all got home safely afterwards. Fingers crossed for you that your league form continues and you climb up the table. For us it's the Pizza trophy (or whatever it's called now) against Palace's kids on Tuesday, then Wycombe away on Saturday. Normal service will be resumed no doubt.
All of you take care and Terrance, hope that leg gets fixed soon.
PUP!
