What an afternoon. After ten minutes I thought it was going to be an Abacus job but the boys slowly sorted themselves out and sussed out the opposition. I thought we were a bit to respectful up till half time, even the bench were quiet. The second half starts and what a transformation. We seemed more confident, the bench were pushing the lads on and the opposition realised that Harrow were going to be a different proposition in the second half. As Wayne said afterwards 2-0 is a dangerous score. As soon as Dernell made it 2-1 I said they would get jittery, particularly at the back. As predicted there centre half receives the ball on the centre half way line, does his best Todd Carty impression and the next thing he’s down and Dernell is bearing down on goal with Lenny sprinting to his side in an excellent position. Dernell is an out and out goal scorer and trusts himself to cleverly round the keeper and slot home sparking delirium behind the goal at the other end of the ground. Will was an inch away from saving us the stress of penalties but I’m sure we would have all accepted penalties at ten past three. Next up was the Tom clark show. The home fan behind me were commenting gleefully about how small Tom looked next to the Kings Lynn giant. I had told him before kick off Tom was a great shot stopper. Shakespeare wrote she may be small but is mighty fierce. Fantastic Mr Clark was the male equivalent!! 3 out of 5, 60%, 6/10ths saved Sounds great however you say it. Fantastic scenes afterwards. Carts has created a great bond between the players and the fans. I thought the home fans weren’t at all graceful in defeat , suprised they weren’t waving there banjos behind the goal during the penalties. As for the after match interview the Kings Lynn manager. I nearly spat my toast out when he moaned about his lack of squad depth, and thought we were there for the taking. WRONG!! An eight hour round trip from sunny Selsey Bill but boy was worth it. In my near forty years of watching the Boro it has to rank right up there in my top five matches!
